What a lovely find
This was our first visit to this restaurant, and we are really glad we found it. The staff are friendly and it has a very local vibe to it
We settled into our table in a booth with the bar to one side and a well decorated wall. The wall had a boar and various oldy worldy guns and some instruments that looked like they were designed for torture.
The menu was quite typical for Spain, which gave us some confidence, and we transacted all our business in Spanish, which is always a plus point for me, making the experience feel more authentic.
I’d planned to have Gazpacho, but it turned out not to be available. So, I had a Sopa de picadillo while my partner went with his Sopa de ajo. The Picadillo was very tasty and comforting with the chicken, ham and egg in small pieces in the soup, so every mouthful felt like an adventure. My partner loved his sopa de ajo, it included lovely chunks of garlic as well as having a rich garlicy flavour.
For Mains I opted for Pulpo de Gallaga, this was also very well seasoned, with a zingy paprika flavour and lovely bits of pulpo. It was served with papas hervidas which with the pan was a good way of mopping up the sauce. My partner’s main turned out to be huge. The Lamb was lovely and tasty, a lot more meat on the bones than elsewhere. The chops were cooked in garlic and rosemary, it was served with patatas fritas, verduras y arroz. He managed most of it and...
Read moreGreat local place. The free olives were SO TASTY! They also serve bread but I didn't have any.
Best plate was the chicken with the champignon (mushroom) sauce. It was top notch. Big plate too and filling. I couldn't get enough of the sauce! Super tasty.
Octopus was soft and buttery. Cayenne pepper seasoning was top notch. And it was a big plate.
Calamari were good too. Doesn't come with tartar sauce if you're used to it that way. Als comes with fries and rice but I chose not to because I didn't want too much extra of it.
Came at 10pm and place was full. Waited maybe 10-15 min for a seat to open up.
Recommend!
Probably my favorite local...
Read moreWhat a find! A really lovely authentic Spanish restaurant with the best interior and decorations we have found in Nerja.
The place is decorated with old tools, decommissioned historical weapons and beautiful paintings making it feel like you are walking into a museum upon entry.
The staff are lovely and really accommodating, we sat at the bar and were serve lovely tapas with each drink. The food and menu looked delicious and again really authentic. 2 rounds of beer and wine came to just 10 euros making it a really worthwhile visit.
We will definitely be back on our next visit! Highly...
