Great food and friendly staff - a family place
We had dinner on Tuesday at Rincón del Sabor, having enjoyed it last year we had agreed to come here again, and we were again glad that we did. My partner calls this place the ‘garage’ restaurant, because its decor reminds him of a garage forecourt, but the food is good, which is very important, so we enjoyed ourselves.
We began with Pan con alioli, the alioli here is very garlicy perfect for our taste.
I had sopa de pollo, this was a delicious soup, with lots of pollo, zanahoria, apio y papas – very tasty.
My partner went for his old faithful: sopa de cebolla – he says it was nice and salty with a lovely bit of toasted bread right in the middle.
For mains I had Entrecot de ternera con patatas fritas y verduras salteadas. The veal was cooked as I like it, with lots of juicy blood running through it, yum.
My partner had Bacalao Frito with the same accompaniments as me. He says it was delicious, the batter was light and thin, the cod was cooked perfectly and was flaky. He’d certainly have it again.
As they make their own desserts here, rather than the ubiquitous ice cream ones served elsewhere my partner was tempted to have a Copa de Café which was a coffee mousse on a biscuit base, the coffee flavour was strong and the moussed light and fluffy. My partner said it wouldn’t do me, a diabetic, any good as he could feel the sugar rush as he digested it, but...
Read moreOne of the absolute must visits when we visit Nerja every year (as many times as we can). This restaurant is always right up there at the top on all the review boards and it really does deserve all the praise it gets. The staff are really friendly and helpful - always seems to be the same young man there waiting - works so hard and is great with everyone. We always order the seafood paella in advance - this really really is the place to come for paella in Nerja - loads of seafood with huge Langostino draped on top. I'm so hungry just thinking about it. The other dishes are fantastic too I understand, but I can't go there without having the paella. Totally fantastic all round. We're so looking forward to getting back there later in the year. The staff still bring out liqueur shots at the end - lovely old school thing that a lot of places don't bother with now. Totally fantastic restaurant. Very reasonably priced too....
Read moreWe enjoyed lunch here on Sunday afternoon. We each had an ice cold glass of beer. Then I had chicken curry with chips, while my Mum had chicken in a Peppercorn sauce. My curry was delicious. If I was to compare it to curries I've had back home in England, I would say it was more akin to a Chinese curry rather than an Indian one. The portion was so generous I barely managed to clear half my plate. My Mum really enjoyed her chicken. The pepper sauce was mild and creamy and it was served with fries and a shredded slaw-style salad. The service was excellent and the waiter was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely visit again and perhaps try some of the fabulous looking fish they...
