Skybar Restaurant at Hotel Almudaina — Restaurant in Palma

Before I start this review I have to give 10/10 for the waiting staff. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. But unfortunately the food was awful. We had to send it back as all our dishes were cold and after the third time it still wasn’t hot. Very small portions ( literally two forkfuls of meat from our dry beef ribs ) We were a party of 5 out for our best friends birthday lunch. Only two of us ended up eating our menu as by this point we were so hungry. For starters we had cold unmelted cheese quesadilla followed by a very small portion of cold ribs and mash with overly dried up corn on the cob. We didn’t get our bread either. We aren’t complainers in general and we all work in hospitality so we understand that sometimes things aren’t perfect. But after sending food back three times you would think someone would check that it’s at least hot before bringing it back for the third time. Dessert for me ( donut with dulce de leche ) was lovely. And as I stated before we couldn’t fault the service. Just a shame about the food letting the place down as it’s a lovely setting. We had planned this day for a while so it was disappointing. The birthday girl had to go to a tapas bar after as she left hungry. They did redeem themselves by taking all of our food off the bill and only charging us for the wine and cava that we had. It was an unexpected lovely gesture as I fully expected to pay for the meals that we did eat. I’d probably go back and try it again because I think maybe they just had a bad day. It can happen. Very poor customer service. Nobody greeted us & we had to wait 10 minutes before we got a menu. We placed our drink order (2 drinks) and the waitress only brought one drink and forgot the other. Once we had finished our first drink we waited over 30 minutes to try and catch someone’s attention to order another. The staff came and checked on every table but ours, it seemed they were avoiding our table, even though we were making eye contact and trying to have another drink. When the waiter finally collected our empty glasses, he just picked up the glasses and turned on his heel, not asking if we wanted another drink. It was not busy at all the entire time we were there so this couldn’t be the reason for such slow service. Since they were ignoring us, we went inside to pay and the staff inside were just as rude, not speaking to us and simply pointing to the card reader. The views were lovely and the music created a great vibe, but the staff really put us off. When we arrived, several waiters looked at us and looked away without acknowledging us, we had to approach them ourselves to ask for a table. We were told there was no outdoor seating available, so we agreed to sit inside. Shortly after, an outdoor table became free, so we moved there. A waiter took our order but refused to clean the previous guests’ drinks, saying we hadn’t been properly seated there. Instead, they told us to move upstairs.

We did, and once our drinks arrived, the waitress insisted we go downstairs to pay immediately—not after we were done. When we asked why, she said some people leave without paying, clearly implying we might do the same. We were there to enjoy our holiday and spend money, but were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Many reviews say how nice the staff is so I don’t understand why they were treating us specifically this way.
