Visiting La Llotja isn’t just about admiring a building, it’s about feeling the story of Mallorca come to life.

La Lonja de Palma, una de las obras maestras del gótico civil de época tardía o flamígera. Lugar donde residía el Colegio de Mercaderes, fundado en el año 1403 por el rey Martín I de Aragón, llamado el Humano (1356 - 1410). Institución que perduró hasta el primer tercio del siglo XIX. En este edificio se realizaban transacciones comerciales y servía de sala de contratación. En 1426 se firmó un contrato con el gran maestro y artista Guillem Sagrera (1380 - 1456), para que en el término de doce años estuviese el edificio finalizado. Es de planta rectangular, con un espacio interior configurado en una gran sala. Destaca la puerta principal, la de levante, con la bella representación del Àngel de la Mercadería. Amplios ventanales permiten la entrada de abundante claridad. La decoración escultórica es mayoritariamente obra de Sagrera. Con el paso del tiempo y la decadencia del comercio mallorquín, su actividad disminuyó y fue variando de usos. Hoy es un hermoso espacio dedicado a exposiciones artísticas, visitas turísticas y culturales. Guarda gran semejanza con La Lonja de Valencia, de época posterior. Es un edificio protegido como Bien de Interés Cultural. Actualmente cuenta con la exposición "Mar Interior", del afamado artista lusitano Pedro Cabrita Reís, (1956). Sus obras son de gran formato, y la que presenta está especialmente concebida para La Lonja de Palma. Es un lugar de obligada visita, para disfrute y goce de los sentidos.
