Dining at Casa María in Ronda was one of the most memorable meals of my entire trip through Andalusia. Tucked into a quiet plaza just a short walk from the Puente Nuevo, this small, family-run restaurant delivers big on charm, flavor, and authenticity. What makes Casa María special is its unique concept: there’s no fixed menu. Instead, the host asks about any allergies or dislikes, and then you're taken on a culinary journey made from that day’s freshest market ingredients. Each course arrives as a surprise—and every single one was a delight. From a perfectly grilled local cheese starter to an exquisitely tender piece of Iberian pork, everything was beautifully balanced and thoughtfully presented. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming. María and her family treat you like guests in their own home. She explained each dish as it came out, often with stories about the ingredients or how it was prepared. It felt personal, intimate, and unpretentious.

What a special dinner! The set menu was such an amazing experience - everything was fresh, traditional, but with a lovely interesting twist. They acommodated allergies and really made it so that everyone in our little party of 4 enjoyed every dish. You could really tell the difference in quality of ingredients. Wine recommendations were also stellar. Literally the best dinner of our holidays. The team was absolutely gorgeous too - welcoming, inviting, accommodating and funny. It was my dad’s birthday and they played a version of Happy Birthday to You in our local language - or to be precise, 20 different versions which was hilarious and made the evening very memorable. The restaurant is cosy, somehow elegant but in a relaxed way. THANK YOU!

If I could give this 20 stars I would! One of, if not THE best dining experience we’ve ever had. The staff was extremely nice and friendly, explained how the restaurant worked. Started at 45 euro per person and you get a set menu of salad, appetizers, fish meat and dessert. Everything we ate was amazing. The flavors were so good and each dish kept getting better and better which we didn’t think was possible. We called a day early to get a reservation for the next day. If you are in Ronda PLEASE go! It was the best dinning experience ever and you won’t be disappointed. It is more expensive than other places but 100% worth it!!

Run by a husband and wife team, Casa Maria is Michelin star worthy. There are only 6 tables and the menu is whatever Ellias and team conjure up for the day. Conjure they do, prepare yourself for a magic show of culinary delights.

What this means is you're in for a wonderful surprise consisting of 6 courses that will tantalize your palette and leave you wanting more.

There is no point for me to tell you that our beef melted like butter, that the scallops were unimaginably fresh and tender, or that the cheesecake would make the most hardline diabetic cry for more...... Because that was "our" meal. Yours may very well be completely different, yet just as astounding.

Do: Come hungry Allow Ellias to choose the wine pairings for you Pet the cat, he's very friendly MAKE A RESERVATION!!!!!!!! (I cannot stress this enough)

Don't Bother this culinary master with your gluten, fish, dairy, etc. non-sense....this is not the place for you. He's kind enough to ask, but honestly, don't waste his time Wear a hat, show some respect and dress for the occasion Show up late for your reservation, the establishment only has 6 seatings, and if you default on yours someone will gladly take your place

Highly recommend, 6 stars if I could. Casa Maria made Ronda as memorable in taste as the landscape...

If you are visiting Ronda, you must visit Casa Maria. My husband and I are on our honeymoon and have been in Spain for 10 days. This was the best meal we have had on our trip and possibly one of the best meals of our lives, when taking everything into account. The food was amazing. While they did some interesting flavors, they really could cook a dish, which is what made it so much better then some new age gastrobar that only tries to give you a unique experiance. The portions were almost American in size (we are American) but the taste was so good we made room! The ambience was perfect, in a little courtyard in the San Fransico area. The waiters were amazing and friendly. They spoke English well enough that we could talk and were very patient with our broken Spanish! Maria (her mother is the amazing chef!) was even nice enough give speaking tips, something I greatly appreciated, and offered additional recommendation for our stay in Spain. I cannot recommend this place enough! I will say it is a set menu, but when the chef is so smart, that is never a problem! Ask them for a wine recommendation and enjoy the experiance. They also charged us criminally low prices - they could have charged twice as much and I would not have blinked! Do not miss out on this wonderful resturant and...

To start with the food here was great. Every dish was fantastic and high quality. The table side service was also very attentive. The warm cheese with jam was a highlight for sure. The nature of the set menu means there will be a lot of food come to your table whether you want all of it or not. I took a star off because of the communication regarding the price that has been mentioned many times. Whether the staff thinks they are transparent about what “from 45€” means, it simply is confusing. Most people believe that the set menu will be a set price of 45€. I would understand if I’m making a reservation a week in advance, they might not know the exact price of the food that far in advance but when I walk in the restaurant and they know exactly what they are serving, they should be able to say “today the price is 55€ not including drinks” That would be transparent and honest. Instead, they still told us 45€ and an hour later charged us 55€. This would be a 5 star experience except getting the bill and being surprised leaves a negative feeling at the end of what was a wonderful meal. They need to tell people the day of what their meal will cost, especially if they have no dietary concerns and are willing to eat exactly what the...
