If you’re the kind of person who values ambiance over actual food, then [Insert Fancy Restaurant Name Here] is your dream destination. Nestled in a stunning location with views so gorgeous they almost taste better than the main course (and they certainly look better), this place is a masterclass in style-over-substance dining.
Let’s start with the positives—because there’s only one. The place is undeniably beautiful. The setting sun kissed the skyline as we sat at our table, which would’ve been romantic if we weren’t squinting through the darkness trying to guess what exactly we’d just paid €28 for. We had a single flickering candle between us—perfect for a séance, less so for figuring out whether that blob on the plate was a mushroom or just a very tired scallop.
Meanwhile, the table next to us—clearly acquainted with someone famous, important, or both—were treated like royalty. They received not one but two table lamps. Two! We could practically read their menus from across the patio, lit up like a Broadway stage, while we dined in moody shadows, playing “What’s That Bite?” with every forkful.
As for the food, well… let’s just say the chef might be attempting modern art. Flavours were either entirely missing or confused about why they were invited. My dish was the culinary equivalent of an abstract painting—expensive, confusing, and likely open to interpretation.
And let’s talk about the prices. If you enjoy paying premium rates for tiny portions and larger-than-life descriptions (“foam of disappointment on a bed of unseasoned regret”), this is your place. Otherwise, your wallet and your taste buds might both leave feeling betrayed.
In conclusion: Come for the view. Stay for the… actually, no—just come for the view. Then leave and grab a slice of pizza somewhere that doesn’t require a flashlight to see your food or a celebrity to get...
Read moreWe were 30 years married and we went to Port de Soller for 4 days we chose this restaurant to celebrate our special day and we booked it well in advance before travelling.
We arrived at the restaurant and even though we noticed staff none of them noticed us, we were left standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting, eventually we were asked where we wanted to sit, we explained we had requested a nice table because it was our anniversary (we did inform the restaurant when we booked), 2 tables were pointed out to us and we were told to sit where we wanted, we commented at this stage how unfriendly all the staff were. they all looked very unhappy. however during our meal we did notice our surly waiter laughing and joking with two younger ladies at another table though!!
We decided to go for the tasting menu which is 45 per person, we had humus to start and it was delicious , most of the food is good but I would agree with some other reviews and say it lacked flavour. The aubergine dish was a little overdone with the charcoal flavour. After each course our plates were removed with no comments, when the next course arrived they were just placed in front of us.
A word of warning, there is no visible prices for bottles of wine, champagne or Cava.
The view was amazing and the decor was lovely, however we have friends travelling here next month and I will NOT recommend to them, this place could be so much better with happy friendly staff that made you feel welcome, we are so disappointed. we booked some other restaurants during our stay and we were not disappointed,...
Read moreWe were quite excited. The reviews were good and we had eaten at 2 great restaurants on the previous nights so we were looking forward to Neni. The interior design is really nice and this added to our expectations. Our daughter had booked Neni months prior and was really pleased when we arrived. We ordered cocktails on the terrace and saw a table had become vacant with a nice view. We checked with the waiter and shifted there. The table had a spill over half of it and the waiter said he would fix it. He came back saying he had forgotten our order and we re- ordered. We waited and waited probably 15 mins and the mess wasn’t cleaned up and another waiter brought our drinks. We asked him to wipe the table - our original waiter saw this but made no effort to assist. We then went to the hostess who sat us at a table set for 4 ( we were 3) and it was the worst table in the restaurant. I approached her asking for a better table (there were plenty vacant) but she wasn’t concerned. Anyway bland and disinterested service ensued - no one checking on our table, at least 20mins to clear the plates etc. in summary - it’s a nice restaurant with ok food but the service lacks care or concern. It goes to show that beautiful decor can only get you so far - if the service lacks care and concern then the experience is not great. Neni - could be...
