From England. Arrived here 8.07pm, left at 10.07pm. Excellent tentative staff, children outside happily playing. Indoor decor could do with some investment, but if you are able to look past cosmetics, you'll find a long menu, free house popadoms to start, and also a house spirit (we choose Bailey's), to finish your meal.
Between us 4 we had plenty of both alcoholic beer, non alcoholic beer, and a tea *beware, don't order tea unless you enjoy it spiced, it wasn't "tea" as we'd expect -- this was taken off the bill, as it was "Hindu tea", when we enquired about British tea, that was what we got. Not a huge problem, but something to be aware of. -- got a free bottle of water as a sorry :) *
I had a lamb tikka masala, mum has a chicken tikka masala, and not that we didn't enjoy them, they were just very very different to what we were used to (the masala being a creamy tomato being what we're used to).
My dad and brother enjoyed their dishes, as did mum and I, just not what we...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for dinner and were initially pleased with the service. We ordered Chicken Vindaloo and Butter Chicken. The Vindaloo was fine, made with chicken breast as expected. However, the Butter Chicken was made with chicken thigh, which we didn’t enjoy. My husband specifically asked if it was chicken breast, and the staff assured us it was—though it clearly wasn’t.
We decided not to make a fuss and simply paid the bill without tipping, as we were disappointed with the Butter Chicken. However, as we were leaving, we heard a staff member loudly exclaim, "No tip!" This was humiliating—other tables overheard the comment, making it even more uncomfortable.
We originally weren’t going to leave a review, but after that experience, we felt other customers should be aware. If you prefer chicken breast in your dishes, this may not be the right place for you. More importantly, no customer should be made to feel uncomfortable for their choice to tip or...
Read moreThe family and I were staying in an All Inclusive hotel in Bahia Feliz. After a less than overwhelming time at another Indian restaurant the week before, we thought we would try the Gorkha Palace. I am pleased we did as we had a great evening. Not knowing what to expect when you climb the stairs, you are met by extremely friendly staff, no surprise there as I find this is typical of Nepalese restaurants. They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The meal was superb, there wasn't anything the 5 of us didn't enjoy, even our 19 month old demolished her curry, rice and chips. They even let it stand so it wasn't too hot and then served it with our starters so she could eat with us. No air con but wide open windows and two very large fans us reasonably cool. So did the Kulfi desert and the beer served in frosted glasses. If I was searching for a good Indian meal I...
