So much love for this place, as well as the staff. We ate here twice during our stay, as well as once on one of their other restaurants.
The servers vere so pleasant. Welcoming and warm with a brilliant humor. I sadly didn't catch any names, but everyone were so nice, even when obviously a bit tired after several days and a busy marked day lunch rush and such. I also had the pleasure of briefly talking to one of the cooks who were bounced between two of their establishments, who were so pleasant and helpful
On my first day, i started out with the garlic prawns, which was absolutely amazing. For my main course, I had one of the best steaks I've ever had, so good that I threatened to marry the chef over it. It was the steak filet, I believe, with Pedro Ximénez sauce, as well as fries, and my father had a very nice burger. We also had some very nice fries. On the second day, I ordered their homemade hummus for appetizer, which was very nice and creamy. I used the leftover for my fries, which I'd definitely recommend. For main course, I had the pork sirloin with fig sauce. I usually am not a fan of pork, but this was absolutely amazing. No complaints whatsoever. My dad had a pasta carbonara and a burger again, which he claimed was even better than the last.
Such a gem in an area that's maybe a bit overrun by the classic tourist traps. So much love for this place.
Oh and if you speak danish, the Danish menu card has some very harmless but highly amusing error that I'd wager are great...
Read moreWhat can I say, we felt a bit tricked by this place upon leaving. The food wasn't grotesque but certainly not worth the expensive price tag. I see most reviews rating their paella as the best in the area. If that is true these people really haven't tasted good Paella yet (not sure how many reviews are credible). The paella was totally watered down, the steak was still bloody raw even though we ordered it well done, and the waiter put additional items on our bill even though we were gonna tip them anyways (out of politeness). The waiter and other staff were friendly (a small consolation for the bad food) but I have to say the kitchen staff should put more effort into their food prep if you are gonna charge people the prices you do. I'm not here to bash this place because I would like the owner to take this as constructive feedback to make improvements. We really came in expecting a fine meal but left very disappointed and relieved of quite a sum of money. I may pass by again to see if things have changed in the coming years but until then I have to give this a big...
Read moreWhen we come to Playa de Ingles we don’t want to get “sucked-in” by the intrusive hype people on the street fronts that try to lure you in to only wind up eating from cookie cutter menus served in probably 90% of the restaurants here. We also consult trip advisor and drill down the reviews until we feel like we trust what is written. Then we go to specific places and tell the intruders to F-off. Taverna La Cana came up when we did a search for “Authentic Spanish Cuisine” and it really delivered. My partner had the pork filet in fig-sauce with Canaria potatoes and I had the lamb shoulder. The lamb was slow cooked to perfection, sliding off the bone with the slightest of touch and filling my mouth with an explosion of flavour tinged with garlic with a hint of Rosemary. I tasted the pork and it was delicious and there actually were figs on the plate, stewed to perfection. The street front presentation of this pace looks a lot like the majority of “let-down” so called restaurants but don’t let the looks get in the way of enjoying some proper authentic...
