I've been visiting this restaurant for more than 15 years, and it is one of my favourites in Gran Canaria. The menu offers a large variety of Canarian dishes, including freshly prepared fish, traditional tapas, and local specialities. The taste and quality are excellent. They are also happy to cater for vegetarians.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming—lively without being overwhelming—and it makes it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family. It’s a popular spot with locals and visitors, so it can get very busy at peak times. The staff are friendly, and even when service times slow a little during peak periods, they are attentive and helpful. It is especially a good place for groups and celebrations.

Prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. Overall it offers excellent value, especially when compared to many tourist-focused restaurants on the island. The portions are, in fact, often gigantic! Over the years, I’ve brought countless friends and family here, and it never fails to impress.

Usually we order several starters and share them between the group, then follow with the individual main courses. They have a large selection of dishes on the menu, but El Capitan will prepare almost anything you can ask for if they have the ingredients in stock.

There is an excellent variety of wines, beers, spirits, and cocktails, as well as freshly made smoothies. I have enjoyed many glasses of Champagne Sangria there with friends. (not on the menu; you have to ask for it)

If you want to experience genuine local cuisine in a wonderful setting overlooking the sea, El Capitan is a place I wholeheartedly recommend. It is a true Gran Canaria gem that keeps me coming back time after time. It's dog friendly too, so Leo, my canine companion, always comes with me. It's also suitable for wheelchair users....

Hugely disappointed in our visit here. Ordered ravioli for myself and my friend ordered lasagne. We ordered soft drinks as we arrived. The drinks arrived and at this point the waiting staff seemed attentive. Our food was then brought to our table and the waiting staff member didn't ask if we needed anything else. At this point I realised my ravioli was cold. My friends lasagne was fine as it was in a dish baked from the oven. My plate was stone cold hence why my pasta was cold. I signalled to a waitress that I would like another drink and that my food was cold. Another waiter then appeared and I also told him my food was cold. Eventually the young waitress arrived with the wrong drink and I signalled to the 3rd member of staff that my food was cold. It was taken away and microwaved. The sauce had all dried up and I ate it because I was hungry. We declined dessert and coffee as we both felt we had ate alone. Both members of staff who then approached us were informed of the disappointment of my meal. One said she would talk to the kitchen whilst the other seemed disinterested. We asked for the bill and were presented it in full which we paid. Overall 6 waiting staff attended our table for a mediocre meal. The whole service seemed chaotic. We come to San Agustin 4 times a year and will never return here. Please try Loopy's, Papi's Grill or the Greek and Italian in the centre for excellent service and a complete gastronomic experience. Perfect views/location don't equal perfect...

Siempre limpio y no llamativo.

We had an early dinner and even though the restaurant wasn't crowded the staff was running around and there was a very tense atmosphere our table was served by two waiters one took the order and brought me a drink and my husband had to wait for a beer for another 20 minutes, very chaotic way of service. We ordered a burger with cheese and it was not the same as in the picture, the cheese oven not melted it was like from microwave, I ordered a seafood soup and a rotisserie chicken which had a very strange smell. The waiter said the chicken would come with rice and salad but it came with rice and fries for some unknown reason. In general the menu is very large and plentiful so I wouldn't count on 100% freshness of the dishes because the menu is so large. I didn't pay for the chicken because I simply didn't eat it. plus for the staff let me taste the soup of the day so I could see what I wanted

Man bekommt biet in allen Sorten (Sogar Paulaner vom Fass).
