Izkina Taberna Jatetxea — Restaurant in San Sebastián

Not bad for what it is, and usually less busy and easier to get in than some of the busier neighboring places.

I got a few different pintxos, some better than others. The chipiron (baby squid) was really good though, very tender and flavorful. I came back on another day just for another taste of that.

Bit of an odd vibe with Backstreet Boys and Miley Cyrus music videos playing.

Don't need to necessarily go out of your way to try this place out, but it's certainly decent and an option especially if you want something quick and don't want to wait around at one of the super busy other...

This restaurant, on top of being too expensive, is not welcoming. The waiters are in a hurry and sad. Moreover there are a lot of cameras on the ceiling, I felt uneasy. They were so in a hurry that we had to change of place twice because we had a table of five and we were four people... we could'nt almost play cards because we had to leave the table fast. Finally, the vallue is more than mediocre and the tapas were not...

Teniendo en cuenta que no tengo recorrido en bares de pintxos (soy de Valencia) el lugar me pareció uno más de los tantos que hay por la zona. Me pareció que estaba más enfocado a los "guiris" (como nosotros en ese momento) y a aprovecharse de ellos. Esto último lo digo porque vi que cuando pedías una caña te servían el vaso a la mitad (cobrandote 3'20 por cada una, una absoluta barbaridad, aunque parece que es la tónica habitual en esa zona) mientras que a otros se las veías bien llenas. Por otra parte me parece que algunos pintxos estaban más tiempo de lo habitual en la barra, lo digo porque pedí uno de pimiento relleno y el pan estaba absolutamente empapado por el jugo del mismo. La nota más discordante se la doy a la camarera más mayor y con gafas, la cual me pareció un tanto antipática ya que al preguntarle si una de las mesas vacías estaba libre respondió a malas maneras "No tengo ni idea porque hay mucha gente pidiendo en la barra". Entiendo que el trabajo a veces te sobrepase, pero nunca debes responder de esas maneras a un cliente que busca cenar ó comer en tu local. El resto de camareros fueron muy majos y atentos. Hay lugares mejores...
