I am leaving Gros after being here a month. I am a chef of 30 years from Boston USA. Pagadi became my favorite for a truly Basque experience. After eating at almost every place in San Sebastián (lol), my vote would always go back to Pagadi for food, and the lovely people. This is a locals tavern with spectacular food. It must be approached as the privilege it is to be amongst truly Basque people. They are food, drink, and social lovers! I have read the negative reviews from tourists. I know who you are. And you have Old Town, Coney Island, Las Vegas, and cruise ships. The street that Pagadi is on must be approached humbly, and respectfully to get back the beautiful graciousness of the Basque locals. USA is approaching 275 years anniversary. Basque people have been a culture for 40,000. The cod served in three different ways here is the best I’ve ever had.
