VINTAGE Bar — Restaurant in San Sebastián

In the heart of Gros, with the terraza facing De Zuberoa Plazatxoa playground, I got a table for my son and I to watch the summer rain come down like cow’s piss as the saying goes.

My son was the only kid crazy enough to play in the tempest rain, and I was apparently the only parent cavalier enough to let their kid do it.

I ordered fast because I knew the clock was ticking on my son’s hunger. A pancart advertised roasted chicken with French fries and salad so that’s what we got.

I ordered that for us to share which was a good decision because the portion was healthy; half the chicken.

The flavor was great, both of us barely looked up from our plates as we ate. Good father-son pub grub I suppose.

The clara (beer with lemon) was on point, one of the best I’ve had in town.

The staff was friendly and accommodating (they let us share the meal and brought an extra plate). They also let us change tables when the rain covered our table and chairs despite the parasol canopy.

El Bar Vintage tiene varios puntos a favor: el cachopo tiene una buena relación calidad-precio, cuenta con una terraza amplia y agradable, y la ubicación es muy buena. Además, la cocina permanece abierta hasta tarde, algo que se agradece, ya que pude pedir para comer incluso a las 16:00.

Sin embargo, el servicio fue lento, probablemente porque solo había una camarera atendiendo. También me dio la sensación de que es un sitio que funciona más por su ubicación que por destacar en algo concreto.

En resumen, cumple si buscas un lugar bien situado para comer algo, pero no es un sitio que sorprenda especialmente.

Gastamos 38€ en dos platos y 2 bebidas para dos personas Bar Vintage has several good points: the cachopo offers good value for money, there’s a large and pleasant terrace, and the location is excellent. Another plus is that the kitchen stays open until late, which is great since I was able to order lunch even at 4:00 PM.

On the downside, service was quite slow, probably because there was only one waitress working. It also felt like a place that does well mainly due to its location, but doesn’t particularly stand out for anything else.
