If you are looking for a quaint, picturesque romantic dining experience - do not come here and avoid it like the plague!
This had to be the worst dining experience of my 27 years.
Having heard of Cafe Del Mar's reputation for dining at sunset and good music, myself and my girlfriend were attracted by the thought of this and reserved a table at the 'Seafront Dinner Area' in the second row and paid €45 per person - which is absolutely okay if the experience is worth it!
Boy, how wrong were we... The experience from beginning to end was an utterly disaster.
When we got there we were sat on the third row at a tiny table and right next to the hundreds of people walking in and out of the beach to watch the sunset. As Cafe Del Mar is right next to Cafe Mambo all you hear is a rythimless mumble from both restaurants' speakers.
As you can see from the picture, the table was so small we had to put some items on the floor and have plates hanging slightly out the table so that we could have additional space to eat. The food was shockingly disappointing. I paid €20 for the driest chicken burger I've eaten and drank the worst sangria I've ever had across all of Spain, which came at a €30 (1L) price tag. The level of service was atrocious. Staff were unfriendly and rushed the whole thing and kept having conversations with each other across our table. After finishing our food, it took them over an hour to clear our table despite walking past it numerous times.
But what about the sunset, I hear you ask... Yeah, you won't really get to see it if you get sat on the second row (technically 3rd row). The mix people walking to the beach and the people dining at the restaurant will take over of any possible space to take a pciture and ruin the experience for those who actually want to see the sunset instead of posing in 3,000 different ways in-front of a mobile phone.
-To the waiter called 'Cristian' - did you get your table-waiting training by cleaning toilets at a zoo? Your attitude was despicable and arrogant demeanour shouldn't allow you to be in any hospitality job!!!!
-To the team managing this place. What on Earth are you taking to charge someone €20 for a dry chicken burger and €30 for 1 litre of tasteless sangria?
-With the amount of money you are robbing from people - can you really not afford a table just big enough so that diners can have everything on the table instead of the floor?
-To the waiting staff who work here, instead of walking past our table after we finished eating why did it take you over an hour to clear our empty plates?
If you want to watch the sunset with your family or special someone avoid this place. Walk past it, keep walking for about 5 minutes and you'll find numerous of other classy spots which are a lot more intimate, significantly less crowded and and with a much better view...

Iconic Sunset Views and Unforgettable Vibes at Café del Mar
Café del Mar in Ibiza is more than just a place to grab a drink—it's a legendary experience that perfectly captures the essence of Ibiza's chill, yet vibrant atmosphere. Located right by the sea, it offers breathtaking sunset views that are nothing short of magical.
From the moment you arrive, you're enveloped in a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance. The seating is comfortable and strategically arranged to maximize your view of the stunning Mediterranean sunset. Whether you're lounging on a plush sofa or sitting at a table with friends, the setting is perfect for both intimate gatherings and larger groups.
The drink menu is extensive and impressive, featuring a wide range of expertly crafted cocktails, premium spirits, and fine wines. I tried their signature Sangria, which was refreshing and packed with a delightful mix of fresh fruits. The mixologists here clearly know their craft, and each drink is presented with an artistic touch.
When it comes to the food, Café del Mar does not disappoint. The menu offers a variety of Mediterranean and international dishes, all made with high-quality ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the seafood platter, which was fresh and flavorful. The tapas selection is also a highlight, with options like patatas bravas and calamari that are perfect for sharing.
The service at Café del Mar is top-notch. The staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They make you feel welcome and ensure that your experience is nothing short of excellent.
Of course, one of the main attractions of Café del Mar is the music. The resident DJs play an eclectic mix of chill-out and house music that perfectly complements the setting. As the sun sets, the music intensifies, creating an unforgettable atmosphere that makes you feel like you're part of something truly special.
In addition to the incredible food, drinks, and music, the overall vibe of Café del Mar is what makes it truly iconic. It's a place where people from all over the world come together to celebrate life, enjoy good company, and create lasting memories.
Overall, Café del Mar in Ibiza is an absolute must-visit. Whether you're looking to relax with a drink in hand, enjoy a delicious meal, or dance the night away, this iconic spot has it all. Highly recommended for anyone...
Read moreI’ve been a big fan of your playlists and YouTube videostream for 8 years already and was so much happy finally to visit this place in real and see the sunsets!! This view has just literally been a great part of my day-to-day life and inspiration! Especially together with these the best sunset compatible playlists you make… Separate thank you to those who work on this.
But, to be honest, in reality expectations didn’t meet the reality a bit. Sunsets and the music is still wonderful, but…
Food. The prices does not match the quality at all.. Usual Bravas for 22€?? Is it a joke..? We ordered Octopus leg for 32€ and Grilled Squid for 37€ which was too overfried and in addition Squid was bitter. I can understand that in such a touristic place like Ibiza, its affordable to have a high prices, but they should meet the quality somehow.. Drinks. Ok, let’s assume that it’s a place just for taking a drinks only and enjoy the sunset. But again.. Should the “Mojito Cafe Del Mar” (Name of The most iconic bar in the world) contain granulated sugar laying down on the bottom of the glass..??? Another “Ibiza Sunset” was also so-so, too sweet, like if it were made of syrup and ice only.
Staff. Hostess was nice, but other staff not very welcoming.
Shop. Just a little thing to improve. IMHO, shop looks a bit behind the times. There are a lot of CD disks, but who really buys CDs with music nowadays? (I’d, for example, rather bought just a poster with Volumen Seis image). But ok, prolly there some people who’re still buying them.. Anyway the variety of things in the offline shop could be changed. I haven’t noticed there many things you have online.
Writing this feedback with the best wishes for improvements. Spent my time on it since less of all I’d want to feel disappointment about this place. If not the YouTube stream with this view and music, I’d never come back anymore, since the experience itself in the bar...
