Darbar Indian Fine Cuisine: A Disappointing Culinary Experience
As frequent restaurant-goers and lovers of Indian cuisine, my family and I had high hopes for Darbar Indian Fine Cuisine. However, our experience fell drastically short of expectations, leaving us to question the "Fine" in its name.
Upon arrival, the restaurant's appearance immediately sets a concerning tone. The establishment presents itself as shabby and cheap, far from the ambiance one would expect from a fine dining experience. The outdoor terrace area is particularly problematic - not only is it uncovered, leaving diners at the mercy of the elements, but the makeshift setup features exposed electrical cables, posing a serious safety hazard that cannot be overlooked.
Inside, the situation hardly improves. The sticky menus and less-than-clean tables suggest a worrying lack of attention to hygiene and maintenance. For a restaurant aspiring to "fine cuisine", these basic oversights are unacceptable.
The food, unfortunately, is the biggest letdown. Despite offering a variety of cuisines beyond Indian, Darbar fails to deliver quality in any category. The dishes we sampled were bland and uninspired, barely reaching mediocre standards. The naan bread, a staple of Indian cuisine, was disappointingly dry. Having experienced truly excellent Indian restaurants along the promenade in Cala Millor, the contrast in quality is stark and unfavorable.
Service issues compound the dining woes. Special requests seem to fall on deaf ears, and there appears to be a significant language barrier. Even when ordering in English, our requests were frequently misunderstood or ignored entirely.
It's worth noting that Cala Millor boasts several high-quality Indian restaurants, particularly along the promenade. In comparison, Darbar Indian Fine Cuisine offers nothing to distinguish itself positively in this competitive landscape.
In conclusion, with a rating of 3 out of 10, Darbar Indian Fine Cuisine falls well short of its ambitions. From the potentially dangerous outdoor setup to the subpar food and service, there's little to recommend here. For those craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine, I strongly advise exploring the other options available in Cala Millor. Your taste buds - and your overall dining experience - will...
Read moreWe had a lovely dinner at Darbar in Cala Millor and can definitely recommend this Indian restaurant! The service was very friendly – our waiter was especially kind, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome.
We ordered the Chicken Tikka with lemon rice and the Butter Chicken. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! What really stood out to us was the sauce: instead of the usual heavy curry-style, the sauces were wonderfully fruity and fresh, with a unique and vibrant flavor. It was a refreshing twist that made the meal feel light yet full of taste – something different and really enjoyable!
The naan bread was fine, although nothing particularly special – but the main dishes more than made up for it. All in all, a great dining experience with authentic flavors and excellent service. We would...
Read moreThe 5 star rating on Google as of the time of writing this review is well deserved and I highly recommend going out of your way to visit this restaurant if you're looking for outstanding Indian food in the Cala Millor area.
This is hands down the best Indian food I've had in years and among the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to.
My wife and I ordered fish pakora, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and prawn vindaloo. All dishes were seasoned perfectly. The texture and depth of flavor of the curries were on point.
Service was also excellent and our waiter was attentive and friendly.
Only slight point of criticism would be that the curries could have been slightly larger in regard to portion size, but we both left full and satisfied.
Thank you for the...
