We came here for breakfast and I ordered an orange juice. When I looked, I found 3 maggots swimming around in it!! They took it back and I ordered tea instead, they came back with coffee. Then they came with tea, which was good but you can't really ruin tea. My boyfriend's coffee was good though. It also took a very long time for them to take our order. Then it took them a very long time to bring our order. My boyfriend ordered a French omelette baguette. But he only got the omelette. The taste was good but how many things can you mess up for only two people?
Here is my response to the owners reply:
I'm very aware of how the orange juice is made and I can even give you an explanation as to why there were maggots swimming in my drink. Maggots love rotting fruit and will eat from them. Which means there was at least one rotten orange in your machine. Meaning you didn't only give me an orange juice with 3 maggots in it, you also gave me orange juice from rotten fruit. If I hadn't seen it, it would've made me sick. And also, I know the difference between pulp and maggots very well. I even added photos to my review where you can clearly see 3 maggots and some pulp. I think the difference is very clear.
But the fact that you replied to my review the way you did, tells me a lot about what kind of restaurant owner you are. Instead of apologizing for the multiple mistakes you made, you get defensive and try to deny the fact that there were maggots in my drink. I don't understand why I should be ashamed for leaving an honest review based on my experience. I think there's only one person here who should be ashamed for giving me a drink that would've made me sick, denying it afterwards and then getting defensive when I leave an honest review with pictures that prove...
Read moreAfter a wonderful morning walking around town visiting the indoor market, the lovely side streets (such a colorful town), the main cathedral and the Replica of the Columbus ship Santa Maria (small museum inside), we were ready for lunch.
I asked the woman at the museum for a restaurant recommendation. I told her we wanted to have a variety of tapas. She immediately suggested this place, in which she said it was one of her favorites.
It was a 10-minute walk from the museum. We were able to get the last table outside under an umbrella.
There were four of us, so we ordered a nice round of tapas: shrimp of the season, serrano ham, smoked fresh cheese (topped with large raisins), and chorizo, and bread right out of the oven. Along with that two of us had sangrias; the other two had beers. The sangrias were refreshing and a nice change from just drinking wine.
The shrimp were very small and difficult to eat. One of my friends ate the entire shrimp (but not the head) stating he wasn't bothered by the shell. I much prefer the gambas al ajillo.
Everything else was excellent. The juice from the chorizo was sopped with the bread. The cheese had a nice smoky flavor but not too heavy.
Friendly service by our waiter.
Over all, a great...

Its not that busy of a day and we are regulars. Maybe no more.
Edit: I live here in the island, dear Cuarto de Tula. I use English as a tool to reach tourists.
One of those places people always have on the top of their tongues.
El Cuarto de Tula is just the place to stop and drink a soft drink or a beer with a light tapa if you are walking the El Maritimo mile. Excellent atmosphere and charm.
Which a lot of copycats quickly to sprout...
