Beautiful little church! I respect the fact that the Catholic church loves to make individual works of art in every building, which makes them all wonderful to look at, but I don't believe that it is bringing people to God or helping people into heaven. After endless years of building and pouring money into these places, some of them taking literally 100 years to build, most of them turn into museums. That does not pour into God's kingdom. A church building should be nothing more than a meeting place that Christians can go to where they can grow as Christians by learning about God through His word so they can grow spiritually. If the money and effort put into these buildings is more artistic than practical, it is poor stewardship of the money that God has blessed the church with.

This Cathedral is worth the walk to come and see. We arrived as they prepared for the Good Friday celebrations, so much activity that made the trip even more special. There are lots of steps to get to to enter, inside a World of God, gold shrines and high ceilings. They do look after this church in keeping with the old and traditional. Well recommended a visit.

Church Matriz de El Salvador was founded A.D 1500 (approx.). The church depicts perfectly Renaissance style. Astounding but modest construction. Above the portico was placed small monument depicts the Divine Savior of the World. In front of the church, you may see a bronze made figure dedicated to former parish priest Manuel Díaz Hernández, called Father Díaz. I would like to draw your attention to the fact. During the Middle Ages, Santa Cruz de La Palma was not a big city, but nearby (about 1650 feet from each other) two large churches were founded. It was church San Francisco De Asís and church Matriz de El Salvador. It's a testimony that Santa Cruz de La Palma was a rich Canarias capital due to maritime trade and local craft.

I admired the wonderful Matriz de El Salvador church interior in...
