LA GOLONDRINAS on Calle Antillano Campos, 26, popular in the Triana neighborhood of Seville. A MUST VISIT. It is a COZY place with tiled walls, Triana ceramics, TYPICAL Sevillian. Bar known for meetings of journalists and visited by famous people from Spain and around the world.
Paco Arcas, its owner and now his children, then gave away a handkerchief or lapel pin, with a silver swallow, to his most regular or special customers, a gift that I still have, with great affection.
The tapas are typical Sevillian and exclusive to Las Golondrinas. Its success is that everything it offers is of quality, very fresh and well done. Saying TIP OF SOLOMILLO is = Las Golondrinas, and your mouth waters with the star tapa par excellence, which savors the juice of the tender grilled meat and invites you to continue eating ... and it is a do not stop. But do not forget to accompany it with ROASTED PEPPER DRESSING, an authentic taste of grandmothers, entertaining work and done with love, which they continue to do in a traditional way, which are exquisite that awakens all the senses with their flavor and some Seasoned Radishes ., to continue with the ALILOLI MUSHROOMS, very juicy with an intense medium flavor. This is only a part of everything there is, to discover it, you just have to VISIT IT. REMEMBER ... THE MOUTH BECOMES WATER with SO AUTHENTIC FLAVORS.
It was founded in 1962 by Eduardo Rodríguez. In 1980 he transferred the bar to Paco Arcas, a postman who worked in the neighborhood and who had always liked the hotel business. In 2007, with the children of Paco Arcas, also in business, they opened a second Bar, Las Golondrinas on Pagés del Corro street number 76 (Telephone 954338235. They open every day during tapas hours at noon and at night). In 2018 they have opened a new establishment, Hotel Restaurante Montalvan calle Alfarería 21. It is an old pottery and spaces with old brick walls with all the original ovens from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries .. THIS ARE JEWELS TO VISIT. If you've come this far, give me an Ok and I'll know it was worth my time in the description. Thank you. Read moreThis popular local haunt was recommended by a local Trianero not only for its culinary delights but also it's wonderful backstory (apparently the name is derived from the opening line of a poem by a well known poet from Sevilla). I hasten to add that in addition to it's storied past, the decor is simply eye catching. From the beautiful tiles at the entrance and the interior to the exquisite wrought iron handrails that lead to the wonderful dining space in the mezzanine floor, this place evokes Spanish charm.
The menu is surprisingly short, probably because Spaniards do sometimes bar hop their way to dinner ( this was the second tapas bar we hit before settling at a third for dinner). The punta de solomillo (grilled pork tenderloin) came highly recommended and was therefore a no-brainer. However, both the champiňon ( grilled mushrooms with a green garlic/wasabi type sauce ) and the chipirones ( flash grilled squid with a pesto base sauce) were memorable for their unpretentious preparation yet pleasing taste. Only very fresh ingredients used here.
Prices are affordable and service is very friendly. The use of English here is understandably rudimentary, though simple translations on the menu may aid in the ease of ordering. The ground floor is mainly standing room only and very lively and busy. If you're here for conversation and drinks, the wonderful mezzanine is more conducive.
Triana does not have the same density of historically significant sites compared to it's 'neighbor' across the river, but what it lacks in instagrammable relics it more than makes up by its curious mix of great/great/ great food...
Read moreI'm a local from Seville but I didn't visit this place before today. They only serve tapas on the bar, not on the tables. The food is nothing special. It seems rushed and lacks love. The service is so so. The tables were distributed in such a way so 5 people could seat together. We were 2. I've we were seated the waiter cane and told us he would separate the tables so we other people would be able to seat. So we had to stab up and wait until he did the process. However, the place was pretty much empty and nobody was waiting. The place remained empty until we left. He was not very nice during our time there. Traditionally, bars provide free olives, or free bread. This place charged for everything. The food was not inexpensive. I recommend other places around, such as...
