I really don't know where the positive review for this place come from. Not only are staff completely inept - the food is nothing short of something that tastes like a microwaved deconstructed kebab. There are some wonderful tapas bars and restaurants in Seville... This place is sadly not one of them.
To clarify why I am only leaving one star (I wish I could leave zero): in spite of the restaurant was quiet except for 2 small tables when we arrived, it took a long time to be able to place an order. Although we were offered a menu fairly quickly, we then waited approximately fifteen minutes for our order to be taken. I think this was mostly due to it necessitating 4 members of staff to work out how to light the outdoor heaters during this time.
When we ordered our food, it did only take about 3 minutes for it to arrive - this is not a positive thing. The 'patatas bravas' with garlic were microwaved oven chips with chip shop/kebab shop garlic mayonnaise drizzled sparingly on them. The home made hake croquettes were puddles of breaded cheese that pooled on the plate, having been microwaved. I couldn't toast much hake amongst the melange. We also ordered the little fried fish plate but this were stone cold and the 'grilled peppers' were from a jar. Somehow the fried egg on top was also cold when it arrived.
Our wine arrived after about ten minutes.
I'm glad we didn't order anything further. Twenty euros down and very little to show for it other than a sore tummy!
We're gutted this was where we spent our last night in Seville after following other reviews. Please try elsewhere: there is so much to choose from both nearby and elsewhere in Seville.
Oh... Did I mention they charge for bread which is a bit of antiquated and a dishonest/false economy. It is not mentioned anywhere on their menu about this, whereas other restaurant/tapas bars make it clear if...
Read moreI have been cheated by this bar, because I am foreign, even though I speak Spanish and live here.
We ordered a manzanilla and licor de hierbas. When the bill came it was listed as manzanilla (€2.50) and Johnny walker (€5). I told the waiter in Spanish that it was incorrect and that I orderd a licor de hierbas, he said it was the same price. I questioned him as it is very expensive for a shot of licor de hierbas, and that other bars charge about €3. He told me that we are in Triana, that's the price and that we're paying for the location and service. I had no choice but to pay.
I didn't trust this interaction as he was clearly considering what he was saying and seemed to be hiding something. My husband is local and we went back a few hours later. He spoke to another waiter who immediately told him a shot of licor de hierbas is €2 and immediately offered a refund. This makes me think that it's a common occurrence in this bar.
The original waiter came back, and told my husband he thought I lied in our initial conversation.
This is completely unacceptable. As a customer, I have never been mistrusted or overcharged deliberately in bars here before and they didn't even have a drinks menu that I could consult for prices. I cannot imagine how many non Spanish speaking people/tourists they overcharge, taking advantage of their lack of knowledge of prices here.
I am never returning. The horrible reviews of this bar make a...
Read moreI don't get the negativity in bad reviews of this place on the previous reviews. Also if you complain about the atmosphere and the staff maybe you as a tourist need to start to know how to communicate Spanish as you are in Spain, make an effort.
This place is awesome, the price is cheap, the portions even for the tapas are good sized! The atmosphere and the service is excellent, I liked so much this place that before going back home, on the last day out, I returned a 2nd time! I instantly made a warm friendship with the staff , specially the Colombian guys, one of them , was like a brother to me and an AC Milan supporter ahaha, VAMOS Hermano !! Every time I left that place him and the other guys called me exactly that "Hermano" which means brother, gave me a hand shake and a hug! I wish to see them again one day, I will return. Again the food is amazing, feels like it's your abuelita cooking your nice...
