This place was overall not bad. The food was amazing, like really good in my opinion. But the only reason I am giving 4 stars overall is becuase the service was just not good. Our server was not flexible, and a bit rude when it came to making small adjustment to dishes. For example, a family member wanted just plain pancakes due to them having blood sugar problems, and so they were avoiding sugary meals. But when they tried ordering plain pancake from the kids meal, the server said it was only for kids. That's fine, ok. But then when they tried to instead get one of the pancakes from the menu without all the sugar additions on it, they wouldn't take that order either. Not being flexible with those who have dietary restrictions is off putting to me. It felt rude and insensitive. I understand that this is an art type place, where they may take pride in their food being the way that it is offered to customers, but people don't ask for things like no chocolate and powdered sugar on their food without a reason. Some more care towards those who just need healthy food would be appreciated. We would have gone somewhere else where the food is plain if that was what we wanted, but it was a family brunch, and the majority of us enjoyed the food that this place offered a lot. Just one family member couldn't eat a lot of things and needed to be specific about...
Read moreI can’t speak about the food as we only had a juice and coffee. The main reason I am writing this review is to share my bad experience with one of the staff members, I unfortunately did not get his name but it was an older, bald gentlemen. I am Colombian and a phrase we say in Spanish when ordering translates to “can you gift me..”. The gentlemen laughed and said I won’t gift you anything, I’ll bring it and you’ll pay for it. At this point I wasn’t annoyed I just said oh it’s just a phrase we use to order from where I’m from. I then asked what juice he recommended and he very rudely said “ well considering I’ve only known you for 5 seconds I don’t know what you like” and so I asked “well what is popular” and he mentioned a juice and I decided to go with a different one where he made a remark saying “I recommend one and you choose a different one”. Then looked at my husband which ordered a latte and said “men aren’t as complicated as women”. I just felt his attitude was demeaning and uncalled for. Not sure if he was trying to be funny but it I just felt it was rude and...
Read moreAs is typical for a place that’s ’Insta worthy’ the queue was there to let you know, this is a place that you need to try. Was a little disappointed with the taste though presentation was excellent. Service was good.
The brioche was either too thick or too dry. It wasn’t a perfect balance of taste. While the presentation wowed us, the taste wasn’t something to shout out. We had a little over an hour to order and eat so we didn’t look too hard at the menu and made a mistake. We asked the very very nice waitress if they had pancakes and she quickly mentioned they do and showed the picture to us. We said yes. We didn’t realise it was vegan/vegetarian as that explained why it was very dry to us who makes lots of American style pancakes at home. We could barely ate 2 bites.
Very rarely do we get disappointed when eating out because as a foodie, I tend to go to places that are highly rated for food. This is strictly the kind of place you take cute pretty pictures at, not so much as a foodie place.
The saving grace is literally the waitress who was super kind and understanding...
