It’s never happened that I wanted to, much less did, leave a review while still at a restaurant, but out experience at El Cairo demanded that we inform others of our amazing experience here. We arrived here based on our hotel’s concierge’s recommendation and immediately were greeted with a warm welcome from our server, Ramon. Since we had difficulty communicating in Spanish, he called over Samuel who spoke English. Samuel suggested house salad and a bass dish to us which didn’t sound too promising, but the meals turned into one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had (and this is coming from people who live in New York City!) The food was simply divine! The house salad had greens and roasted vegetables, shrimp and smoked salmon, it was infused with oil and vinegar right at our table and while the portion was large enough for 4, the 2 of us devoured the whole thing in short order. Then came the bass, cooked in sea salt, served with delightfully prepared vegetables. The fish was also uncovered and served right in front of us and it was succulent and full of flavor! The bottle of rose wine recommended to us was a perfect accompaniment to our meal and both waiters were funny and a joy to interact with. What a fabulous welcome to Seville! Gracias El Cairo,...
Read moreLet me start by saying that this is my first negative review I have ever written. But the experience left me disappointed so I had to write this. Came to this restaurant expecting some really yummy food. We were asked if we wanted to go to the restaurant or to have tapas. We chose the restaurant. Ordered two times lamb chops, once calamari and once a steak. The service was not very friendly, I don’t know if they thought like we won’t be able to pay or what, but there were three of us with two children, dressed appropriately and not looking crazy or anything, so I don’t know what their issue was. I would understand the attitude if the food was excellent but it wasn’t. We left most of our order and when the girl came to remove the plates I told her that the meat was overdone, duro (dry) and the rest was also not good. No one spoke a word of English, which is also strange for a touristy area. We have met many nice Spaniards but here we met none, I’m sorry to say. Will not be coming again, that’s for sure. Make sure to be proud of your restaurant only if you can back it up with actually good tasting food! Or we made a mistake by not eating the tapas and actually ordering full meals, I don’t know. Won’t be trying it again in any case. All in all, unfriendly service and...
Read moreI never wrote reviews, but this place was super expensive in comparison to other restaurants on the street and both the service and food was horrendous. We sat outside which was not the greatest idea as the servers were not attentive to those dining outside. The service was horrible, no one spoke a word of English (which is surprising for a touristy street) and as tip/service is already included automatically on the bill they don’t seem to care about customer service. They barely only came once to check on us and it was to take our dishes away. I had to go into pay my bill, otherwise we would have sat outside all day. We ordered a dish that was a variety of fried seafood and variety of meat with cheeses essentially a charcuterie board. The seafood did not taste fresh. The charcuterie board was the only thing we ate that was ok (there are other restaurants on the street that have the same for much less money). Overall worst experience in all of Seville so far! I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before going. Hoping others will not make the same mistake. I do not recommend this...
