My husband and I dined here last night and I really wished we hadn’t. The waiter was surly and the food well below expectations as we have dined there many times before (before it was a chain of restaurants). I started with fish pakora which was lovely. While eating my starter the couple on the next table paid and left. The waiter came to clean the table for the next customers, but instead of brushing the rice etc into his hand or napkin, he brushed it on to the floor. I knew then that standards had slipped! The main course arrived, I chose lamb jalfrezi and my husband lamb madras. We had one rice and one garlic naan. The naan was so small and crispy, rather like a popadom. It was the smallest naan bread I have ever seen, so small I had to order another! My jalfrezi had no heat to it whatsoever and was just bland. My husband’s madras was very hot so I mixed some of his sauce into mine to get some joy from the dish. Perhaps I should have said something to the waiter but he never came over to ask if everything was ok, and like I said earlier, he was surly. We won’t be eating there again....
Read moreEven if I love indian spicy food, this was not my best experience. We arrived late and asked if we could still have dinner. The welcome was not very enthousiast and the waiter (as in certain areas in India) was not delighted having to talk to my women: he was rather antipathic whith my girlfriend. The portions of food are not big and for indian food rather pricy. I ordered a spicy meat dish and was unable to eat it, my girlfriend tried also and agreed it was uneatable. We have both been to India and know that indian food can be very spicy but this was just nit eatable. The gentleman sitting next of our table was indian and also confirmed that ghe dishes were too spicy. We asked to make the dish more mild but received an unsympathic answer. They probably poored extra oil in the already oily dish. We decided to take it home and cream. I evacuated my whole digestive system the whole night and was ill for 2 days. I saw that people were generally satisfied so I hope this was an...
Read moreWe decided to visit this restaurant after reading so many positive reviews. The waiter was perfectly pleasant, and the menu was extensive, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. It seemed to cater mainly to visitors looking for a bland, generic taste rather than authentic flavours. The dishes arrived far too quickly and appeared to share the same generic sauce — neither tasty nor spicy, and heavily oversalted (and I love salt, so that’s saying something!). Ironically, even a child of about six at the next table commented unprompted that it was too salty. The frequent sound of a microwave pinging didn’t inspire confidence, and the food itself tasted like it had been pre-prepared and simply reheated without much thought to texture or flavour. A real shame, as I love Indian food, but this was very...
