L' Avinyet - Restaurante Bar de Tapas con mucho Arte — Restaurant in Sitges

We had booked in good time early during the day with a lovely young staff member. We left our phone no with her and we duly arrived a few minutes ahead of time to be told that we had to “ask the owner” about the reservation.

We were puzzled by this and when we duly asked him he said he could only sit us outside in the street.

He lied that he had tried phoning us (no missed calls), there were plenty of tables inside but he wasn’t interested.

We sat at the table outside but it was horrible, it was right by the door, the street was packed and people at the next table were smoking.

We pleaded with him again, politely, especially as the restaurant had lots of empty tables but to no avail.

Our conclusion? Tourists or foreigners are to be treated as second class and with contempt or indifference.

He wasn’t apologetic : no, I know you booked, I don’t care, I’m full, sit out in the street at the worst table I have. I’ll take your money.

It was shameful stuff. My female partner (who dealt with all this) felt humiliated by this guy and was really upset afterwards. She’s a vegetarian and that’s why we picked the restaurant.

So we left him and his table and and an hour later when we passed again (on our way to a wonderful place where bookings, even late ones, are honoured)his table was still unsold.

There are happily plenty of friendly and good restaurants and bars in Sitges. It’s a friendly and good natured town

We rescued our evening by returning to our regular and favourite Sitges Restaurant which was busy but (as always)...

Me and my partner stayed in Sitges last week and we were looking for an authentic Tapas restaurant. We had heard good things about L'avinyet and it more than lived up to it. Our booking was made by our hotel (eurostars) but for some reason the booking wasnt there...not to worry, the man that served us found us a place in the courtyard in the back. We had a jug of cava Sangria to drink (incredible). My partner is Gluten Free and the waiter helped us select which options we could have. She went for the Prawns and the baked camembert to start, i went for the Ox tail and Jamon Croquettes. They were all SO GOOD! we then went for the steak (old cow on their menu) and Octopus, both coming with a truffle like mash potato. I can honestly say it was one the best main we had during our stay. i hightly reccomend this to anyone visiting Sitges, and if like me you have someone that is Gluten Free in your party, you will love it here. Finally i just want to say thank you to the man and woman (sorry i didnt grab any names) that served us. They were brilliant. Not only was the service fantastic but our phone data had stopped working and the helped us connect to their wifi without any fuss at all. We will return during our stay next year....

Having spent eight weeks in Sitges and visited this bar on several occasions I would make the following comments. The first visit was wonderful and we were even more impressed with the second visit when the waiter remembered us and what we had drunk the first evening. A first class experience in hospitality. Each additional visit was more and more disappointing unfortunately and with our last visit being offered a very expensive bottle of wine rather than something reasonable seemed like a rip off and as if the staff totally disrespected their clients. When we complained, they refunded us 7 euros per bottle of wine. So disappointing that they have such little respect for their clients. Also the food went from great, to very mediocre! I wouldn’t recommend this bar after such a disappointing end to our stay. We supported them and they ripped us off! There are so many other nice places to try. This is...
