A simple place that really delivers fantastic Italian cuisine. Catering for a large array of tastes and a place you must visit. Every dish we have had here is fantastic and we have stuffed ourselves silly each time we visit. The only bad thing about this place is that it's really busy. Book or come early because once 7pm hits the place is jam packed with lines of people waiting for a table. But the wait is worth it. We visited twice, let me tell you the third time no starter, just mains... Only kidding. You can't help but gorge yourself as the options are too vast and tasty. The other notable issue, is with the menu which is a flimsy plastic folding menu. It just doesn't quite feel right. A minor issue and it still works as a menu. On our first visit for starters Wifey had the melon and Jambon and hubby went with the Bruschettas. The Melon was a nice little refreshing plate with a hint of sweetness. The Bruschettas were ok, sadly they didn't toast the bread, so became soft and mushy and not nice to eat. For the main wifey had the Fagottini, with cheese and pear. And what a surprise of a dish, cheesy with a sweet hint. Never heard of this dish before, but Wifey loved this and we both recommend trying it. For dessert we were stuffed but hubby had to try the tiramisu. And we were not disappointed, very creamy with a very strong, not over powered, flavour of coffee. Worth it. The second visit was just as spectacular. Sadly at the later time, 8:30pm, and you could really see the difference. We took an inside table, while the staff were very friendly, the girls serving the outside tables seem more friendly. But concede, the staff were rushed off their feet by that time. So definitely recommend coming earlier. For starters Wifey had the goats cheese salad. This was nice, but she compared it to another and preferred that one more. Hubby also liked, this one had less sweetness. As a comparison with the previous same dish, different restaurant, I thought they did just as well as each other, however we both liked the dish. Hubby had the Aubergine with Parmesana, which we absolutely both loved. Highly recommend this dish, cheesy gooey with sweetness and heartiness of aubergine's. The only problem with this dish, it left me stuffed before going to the main course. Thank God it was busy and they were delays in the kitchen because hubby would have struggled otherwise. Again for the mains wifey had the Fagottini and it was just as good as the first time we remembered from a few days ago. Hubby tried something different, grilled fillet steak with Gorgonzola sauce. Because wifey doesn't like red meat, and she would like to try some of mine, hubby decided he would get his steak cooked a bit more usual asking for medium to well. That was a big mistake, while it absolutely tasted fantastic and still tender cooked, to my shame it had removed most of the steak taste. The Gorgonzola sauce really had a strong cheesy flavor to the steak. It was absolutely lovely but next time I'm getting it medium at most. The Antica Trattoria is a fantastic little restaurant which both wifey and hubby recommend. But definitely come early, before 7pm, as you'll find it more relaxing experience. Still nonetheless an excellent experience.and great food. It was so good that we went back on several nights and even for a few lunches. The food quality and consistency, even during the rush period, is excellent. So If you want great Italian food, you probably won't find a better place...
Read moreWe were so disappointed with our recent visit to what used to be our favourite Italian in Lanzarote. Something has definitely changed since last year with so many aspects not delivering from service, ambience and food quality. We ordered the garlic shrimp and focaccia for starters. The 'focaccia' was by no means authentic and arrived flat as a pancake like a leftover pizza base. The prawns very disappointingly had their digestive tracts all still in place which is a big no no. After 5 minutes of scraping them all out we eventually ate them. They were also swimming in chunks of burnt garlic. This leads me onto our main courses, a mixed grill which my husband requested medium rare for his steak, and for me a beef and palma ham ravioli in a creamy parmesan sauce. My husband took one mouthful of his overcooked steak and immediately spat it out as it tasted and smelled sour. I confirmed this after trying a bit. The pork and chicken were as dry as sticks. The potatoes were dripping in oil and slimy. My ravioli was not fresh at all therefore I assume it was pre bought frozen. The filling inside was lacking taste, no seasoning and grayish in colour and the sauce was very overpowering.
We sat for 15 minutes until our 3/4 full plates were quickly taken away with no question as to why we left so much food. We didn't have the opportunity to pass comment as it was whisked away so quickly. Needless to say we didn't try the desserts.
The only positive was the bottle of wine we ordered and the only pleasant member of staff who served it.
Im so sad to be posting this as we have been going for many years. We've always had positive experiences. For a bill that came to 88 euros we would have expected much better than this!!!! There are now so many better places to eat than this restaurant.
We discovered later that evening when checking recent reviews it is a...
Read moreWe booked a table for 4 at 20:30 for my partners birthday meal, having been previously before a while back we were quite excited and had talked it up so much to our two friends who were joining us. We arrived and were quickly seated and given drinks and food menus. We waited around 20 minutes before a waitress came to take our drinks order only and said someone else would be along to take our food order. 5 or 10 minutes after we put in our food order. It was a good hour and 5 minutes after arriving at the restaurant that our starters finally arrived, which were lovely, but by this point one of our friends that was with us was about ready to faint, having dropped her blood sugar she was not in a good way. Unfortunately they had to leave as she was really quite unwell at this point and we asked for their main course to be boxed up so they could take it with them. Myself and my partner now the only ones left, waited for our mains to come, a pizza and a risotto. Once they arrived, at just gone 22:00 the risotto was unfortunately inedible, watery and tasteless it was definitely not worth the wait. By this point the entire experience was just a complete disaster and we ended up just complaining and asked for the bill, leaving half a bottle of wine behind. The waiter that we dealt with at the end was very kind and apologetic and took some money off the bill for us and could not have been nicer. Unfortunately it was not a nice birthday experience for my partner. We will not be...
