Hennessy' Bar — Restaurant in Tías

Popped in here with the family for a drink. We waited a few minutes for someone to take our order, but nobody did, so went I just to the bar instead. I went up to the barman (as you would in most pubs I've ever been in!) who wasn't doing a whole pile, and he nodded for one of the staff hanging around by the bar to come over to me. This chap took my order, which the barman then put together - talk about a pointless extra step! 🤦🏼‍♂️ Anyway, the waiter brought down our drinks to us.

Unfortunately, there was a football match on all the tvs, and their televisions clearly went to 11 - it was ridiculously loud for the small amount of people in the place watching the football, and what's worse, some lad who knew the staff told them to turn it up even louder. Even my kids with headphones on and watching their devices remarked on it being too loud!

And to top it all off, the smell that was wafting out from the toilets was absolutely disgusting. We couldn't even finish our drinks, it was that bad.

Let's start with the positives, the guy who persuades you to come in is a lovely fella and the staff serving the drinks were friendly. The absolute negative and the reason we didn't stay, and won't be visiting again is the so called musician, an Irish catholic with a hatred to anyone that isn't. I've already heard that he was asked to leave the last bar he worked at for these reasons and that he has been smacked a few times, not enough clearly as he is still the way he is. It is probably a good place for a few drinks but if you’re stopping for breakfast, there’s way nicer places out there. Around 30/40 min waiting for food that came out cold. We didn’t feel like saying anything as we had a tour planned and didn’t want to wait that long if they offered us a replacement. Staff are nice and friendly but surely if you’re one of the only 5 or 6 occupied tables the breakfast shouldn’t take that long and shouldn’t be...
