The restaurant was busy when we arrived but not as rowdy as some of the other restaurants along the strip. It was nice to have Italian food on offer as the other restaurants were all very similar, but the food was disappointing. The pizza dough was dense rather than light and airy, and the quality of the toppings was not great. I saw someone get lasagne, and the portion was very small. Calamari could have used a dip and the bruschetta was not as good as others I have tried.

Edit following owners response.

I have not altered my original score as it is based upon my experience at the time. The waiters that served us were polite and friendly hence I rated their service 4 stars, but the owner has come out rude and defensive. The owner gets a zero.

There appears to be an issue with the translation of my review. I stated it was busy but not in a bad way, for example it did not impact on the good service we got from the staff and we could still hear each other to have a conversation. Other restaurants are so busy that you wait for a long time, music is too loud etcetera.

The owner clearly doesn't know their own menu. I uploaded a photo of my calamari starter and a photo of the menu which shows calamari under the starters - it is the fifth item under the starters. Rather than being rude you can read your menu or learn the difference between a prawn and calamari.

With respect of the pizza and using the owners words I would describe their pizzas as a frisbee - the crust was thin and dense, it was not thick and airy. There was the odd bubble on the pizza but a good pizza would have had more air right round the crust. The thin dense crust can be seen in photos from other reviews. It is certainly not neopolitan standard. For clarity, I did not think the artichokes were very tasty and I usually enjoy them.

I did not comment on the quality (good or bad) of the lasagne, but I noticed how small the portion was which is an opinion I am...

Was highly recommended but unfortunately we were disappointed. My partner was delighted as she got a margarita pizza that she thought was lovely however I got the garlic bread pizza which was cremated. It was only nice when I added salt and pepper and oil myself. It was like eating toast, however I’ve actually had nicer toast. Despite being “120% Italian” I’d go with more like 60% with higher costs than other Italians on the island

Due to the owners response I now rate this a one star as I would have returned, due to my honest critics as my partner enjoyed her meal. However after this disrespectful comment, when in fact my partners mother is Italian and I have lived there, your unknown and lack of fact comments are not appreciated. As I was not hungry and only wanted a snack I ordered garlic bread pizza, not as a meal. Also as somebody who lives in puerto del carmen I am well aware of other exquisite Italians but this is not a word I would have used to describe your food. I was generous in my rating as your staff were so friendly and attentive and my partner liked her food, however after your tone I will not be returning. Please ensure you learn how to speak in a more positive tone to receive some constructive criticism for your business or you may in fact end up like many businesses on the island when you cannot even execute something as simple as garlic bread which is an Italian food, therefore shows your lack of knowledge even further. My best regards...

Disappointing. Our appetizer with anchovies had no anchovies. We let it slide until the waitress got our order wrong, we asked for the seafood pasta with the upgrade to homemade pasta but it came with boxed spaghetti. She apologized said it was her fault and took it back, so we then pointed out to her that our appetizer was made wrong too, she shrugged. She brought a new entree with the homemade pasta but it felt more like an appetizer size plate, a few extremely small clams, one little piece of squid and one muscle. On top was what looked like a giant shrimp but you had to put your hands in the pasta/sauce to pull off the head, peel and devein it, which turned into a tiny overcooked shrimp. Then she brought a plate of anchovies (to just eat by themselves?). The meal did not fill us up and when she finally brought us 2 slices of bread, there was not enough sauce in the dish to even wet the bread. Again, big disappointment, left hungry and...

Went here for our first dinner in Lanzarote. The owner was so accommodating. He let us have a window table with a view to the sea provided we could be done in 1.5 hours as the table was reserved. We shared the squid starter. Everyone was happy with it. We all had pizzas. Portion size was very generous. They accommodated my fussy child by leaving tomato sauce off hers. My husband and son both had desert. I was too full. My son had pana cotta and my husband tiramisu. Husband was very happy with his. My son less so with his but he could have just been full;) In terms of accessibility you have to go up a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant so buggies and wheelchairs especially would be hard pressed to get up. But amazing views and great food at value for money. The service was also attentive and quick so thumbs up from me!

We visited La Lanterna on a Tuesday night after reading some reviews regarding their pizzas. We weren't disappointed at all! We had a Margherita and a Nerano, both very good made by a Neapolitan pizzaiolo, and you can tell. We tried the tiramisu, also really good. We loved it so much the first night that we went back two nights after to try their fresh selection of pasta and their starters. We had bruschetta with buffalo mozzarella and the vegetables flan as starters, and two different pastas, very well done. As dessert this time we had brownies with ice-cream. A nice bottle of rose and limoncello to end up the two lovely dinners we had at the Lanterna. Highly recommend if you want to eat Italian food well made with a lovely view of the seaside at the sunset. Will definitely visit again next time we're in Lanzarote.
