A very popular restaurant where locals including Policia Local and Guardia Civil eat. I have been coming to Costa Sal Matagorda for over 15 years. This restaurant is a must do when visiting Matagorda.I always go for the fillet steak which is the best in the area and comes with many different sauces and done to perfection. The menu is very comprehensive covering fish , pizza & pasta, and a large selection of meats including Veal and lamb , Chicken. Traditional Paella and chateau briand is also available for a minimum of 2 persons. Local wines and good selection of beers and spirits available. A great selection of desserts many homemade, like the Tiramisu and Cheese cake. There's no rush and food is cooked to order . When you've finished eating and drinking ask for the bill and have a complimentary drink on the house, I went for Caramel Vodka and my spouse and her sister & brother in law went for Honey Rum. Kike the owner just places a bottle of each on the table with full glasses, drink till your content. You are guaranteed of a warm welcome from Kike his brother Hose and staff. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.
The pictures are fillet steak with Canarian potatoes....

The service is excellent and the food is too.
If you want something really special then I recommend the Chateaubriand, I would encourage people to be aware that rare really means rare here. The attached photo is evidence of this, we ordered medium-rare and this is how it came. Thankfully both my wife and I enjoy rare red meat but if you're not such a fan I'd recommend going up a level or two on the scale!
Value for money is brilliant in comparison to the UK where I would anticipate paying £50 per heard for a Chateaubriand for people as we had, at Matagorda Casa Kike it was the equivalent of £16.25 pp!
Will definitely re-visit this place on...
Read moreThought we would give this a try as we have tried & like everything else in the area, also considering we love a good steak back home. We both ordered the sirloin which when arrived was around 2” thick. Looked really appetising but quickly cut into it before the waiter left as I could guess from the thickness it wasn’t going to be “medium” on the inside… No surprise it probably still had a pulse! Sent it back to be cooked more but came back pretty much exactly the same just sliced up, not what you’d expect from a “steak house” Safe to say we asked for the bill and ate else where. Would not recommend unless you like it rare as it seems you can’t get it anything else considering now reading...
