Massive shame really. Visually it looks amazing, but that’s about as good as it gets. I really don’t know why this is so highly rated, as it’s not only by far the worst curry I’ve had in Lanzarote, it’s the worst I’ve actually had in my 28 years on this planet.
The service was abysmal, whilst we waited for a table another couple walked in front of us and was served first, then after being put at a table nobody really attended us. After finally someone came, the server weirdly started touching my wife, before actually forgetting our full drinks order, and having to ask for it again. Once we ordered our overpriced food, we were expecting a nice meal, which is was not.
My partner had a paneer tikka, which included no seasoning and was quite frankly a showcase item on a ‘sizzling’ plate, the audience of the restaurant enjoyed it more than anything. Maybe focus on the food looking good before trying to make it look fancy? (which it’s far from may I add)
My chicken on puri was okay, but literally just ok. It at least had a dash of seasoning, the puri, just as it came out of the pack, not warm, nor somewhat toasted. It was at least palatable. The best I could probably say about the entirety of the meal.
Now unfortunately we get the main meal, wow what an absolute embarrassment for a curry house… both meals turned up luke warm. My balti, definitely wasn’t a balti. More like sauce from a jar (actually, this would be a compliment as I’ve had better packet mixes!). For some bizarre reason it turned up in what I can only explain as a tapered cauldron. Again, why not just focus on making good food before playing around with it? Both our curries were terrible, raw veg, as I said previously lukewarm, no spice at all (even though I said I wanted a kick) and dry lamb (how do you even do this?). Essentially it was a posh tomato soup, just at an inflatable price.
We got naan and bread to side, which was equally bad to be honest and should be the easiest part of the evening for them. Somehow again, managed to provide ‘dry’ rice? Naan bread had cheese which wasn’t adequate for a naan as it dried out and didn’t complement the meal, and the garlic was essentially raw. The list goes on, and on, and on….
It’s a shame to write such a horrendous review, but when you’ve spent more on this meal than every meal you’ve had so far on holiday and it’s worse than majority of meals you’ve had in your life in a restaurant it’s hard not to, I doubt anything will change, aside from hopefully people that want a ‘real’ curry don’t attend this restaurant.
Do better, you should be ashamed to sell this rubbish...
Read moreAs a curry lover my wife & I tried this restaurant due to the great reviews. As a Brit that loves curry especially Madras or Jalfrezi I feel I have to give this place 2 stars. My reasons are the food was unbelievably bland & the curry was watery. My keema rice was had virtually no taste & the keema nan was more like a pancake which the tastiest part was the fresh coriander sprinkled over I seriously could not taste the meat which seemed plentiful although thinly spread. It took an age to order as they seemed to miss us frequently even though we were sat outside near the menu board. When we did order our food seemed to arrive pretty quickly which itself was a worry as the restaurant was full with people who hadn't made a reservation waiting for a vacant table. Normally we would expect around 15 - 20 wait minimum for our food at a restaurant this busy once ordered but it arrived in under 5 minutes which probably accounts to the lack of taste. When they delivered our mains we asked for another round of drinks but these didn't arrive until after we had ate our meal & we told them we didn't want the drinks anymore as we just now wanted the bill. How can it take 5 minutes to make 2 curries & special rice & nan breads but take over 10 minutes to open a bottle of beer. I certainly would not recommend this restaurant & i honestly can't see where the good ratings are from going on our experience. I am a real foodie my son is a chef as was I & I love cooking & I always give honest reviews as people can check with my other contributions. I don't like giving poor feedback but if it's warranted...
Read moreMan this place is busy. We even booked and when we arrived the amount of people stretched all the tables as far as the eye could see. Highly recommend going early or booking if you're going to eat later. Still of all the tables food was coming out and an extraordinarily fast pace. People were chatting and the laughter was ringing across the tables. Wifey and hubby really enjoyed our food here and left completely stuffed. Be careful you have been warned your eyes will order more than your stomach can handle. Staff here are surprisingly friendly and very welcoming. At one point in a meal service wifey dropped her fork. We notified a server, and he misunderstood what we meant. So he shouted at the other server who was supposed to take care of cutlery. But it wasn't in a nasty way, it was in a professional manner, with the subtext of doing a better job. So Hubby apologises to the staff, that was our fault. The staff was so rushed and busy we didn't get a chance to explain there and then. Regardless the food is of high standard and great Indian quality. The cobras were refreshing and cool. For starters we had the poppadoms and the lamb samosas. Hubby loves his lamb samosas, very few places do them, but they were delicious. Poppadoms of course are an absolute staple. The chicken tikka masala is creamy and flavorsome. Wifey's Dopiaza was buttery and so tender. And the naan bread was huge, it could almost double up as a hand towel. Perhaps starters was a bad idea, but when we left with our belly's stuffed. We absolutely...
