Now I love this place, but the biggest grievance I have with it is that it's all about steak. There is nothing wrong with steaks, I love them just as much as the next man. However I feel it's a bit of a missed opportunity not being able to offer a variety of meats. The majority of the menu consists of steak type and steak cut, equating to 30 different menu variations of essentially the same 3-4 cuts of steak. Personally I'd love to see something exotic on there, and if you look at the other meat section you have a choice of six dishes, from a combination of chicken, pork, ham and duck. It would just be nice to see something else other than steak. And what I mean, is that I don't mean to sound critical, but I would have loved a place that does goat meat, maybe lamb. But then again I can't complain, because I'm going to a steakhouse. And what are you really expecting when you go to a steakhouse. Wifey ordered the Goat cheese Salad and the Duck confit. Both fantastic options, the goat's cheese with honey and balsamic vinegar dressing the mixture of nuts and salad was surprisingly tasty. The portion size was huge, a starter that looked like a mains. Even more surprising was the Duck. A meat that can be often dry and chewy, but not here this was cooked to perfection. I have never seen duck as tender and the sauce as amazing. While I felt it was more of a honey taste, I think I prefer it over orange. The vegetables were amazing, but I did find the mash a little too salty for my liking. Hubby's starter was the black pork rolls and mains the black Angus fillet steak. The black pork rolls were disappointing, as they were spring rolls, and I am not fond of them. Really nice, but if I had known I would have chosen something different. My main was fantastic a steak cook really well and delicious. A couple of tendons and sinus, but over all it was a good...

We went for a treat on our last night of our holiday. We were given a very poor table stuck in a corner. We asked to change our table but where refused. We had been told you couldn't book tables for 2 but this was the reason given when we pointed out empty better tables.Eventully someone saw sense and gave us a better table. The staff member who refused to change us to a new table completely ignored us for the rest of our visit. The starters where awful. Scallops were the size of cockles, the octopus was like rubber, no one asked if there was an issue when collecting plates. The mains, beef stroganoff was tasteless and my bullock steak was so tough, doubtful it was rested and instead kept under heat lamp as the plate was untouchable. We both left over 3 quarters of our mains. Another point,we had Rosie wine with our starters and ordered a half bottle of red for mains,it arrived late and the waiter never gave us clean wine glasses. We left €134 lighter without coffee or desert and no one asked if we had any issues with returned food. We had better and more interest staff in a wee cafe where we had breakfast. I wonder if all the locals who were there would be served the same standard of food, very doubtful. It is the classic emperor with no clothes restaurant, hype that is not justified and people not pointing it out as they believe all the hype. Save yourself a lot of money and give this place a miss till they understand ALL customers should be made to feel comfortable. I have never complained about a restaurant before but I just couldn't have anyone ending their romantic last night on holiday by...

Disappointed with our meal last night. We have dined in La Cascada every year on our holiday over two decades and we have always enjoyed and been impressed with the quality of food, service and dining experience. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy this meal. The service was haphazard. We noticed that our starters came out twice but went back in, initially because we had not received cutlery. The starters arrived a second time with a waiter in the background while a waitress was placing the cutlery on our table so the waiter returned our starters to the hatch, which I could see from our table. The starters were prepared and waiting to be served for almost 10 minutes. As a result the starters were cold. We didn’t want to make a fuss so we let it go. My wife and I had ordered Angus sirloin steaks, which were also cold when served as were the chips and baked potato, which accompanied them. Our son’s steak was fine but our daughter’s pizza was also on the cold side. I never send food back as I don’t like to be rude, however we were completely dissatisfied with the standard of food so we asked for our two steaks to be reheated. To be fair to the staff they immediately took away the plates, apologised and returned a few minutes later. We were told to be careful of how hot the plates were…..but the steaks were still on the cold side! On a positive note, the deserts and coffee were excellent however, regretfully, it is unlikely we will return to La Cascada. Our meal cost over €175 for four, with a bottle of wine. I’m afraid the quality of food and service is not reflected...

The window display of steaks is beautifully decorated with some of the best looking meat I've seen since I arrived. The restaurant is easy access with no steps and inside is very modern and clean with more than adequate seating and a very nice table plan. I was there fairly early so had a good option of seating, the open plan windows giving an alfresco style dining experience was a very nice feature. The staff were a little bit scattered between tables, I was served by multiple servers however everyone I spoke to was friendly and served with a smile. This did not affect the timing from taking my order to eating my food at all which was faultless. With a wide range of dishes to chose from on the menu there was something for everyone. I had the fillet mignon (medium) wrapped with streaky smokey bacon, with chips, a fried veggie mix of peppers, avocado and a side of crispy fried onions which was all cooked perfectly. There was a good range of alcohol beverages and none alcoholic, I had the water on this occasion but will definitely be back to sample a few from there wine collection in the future. I didn't go to the toilet during my visit but I have no doubt they would be clean. Overall I highly recommend La Cascada Restaurant for all your steak needs when in the old town.

Went for dinner with my wife, sister and brother in law last night. Overall the whole experience was very disappointing. The service was slow and when we had an issue with my wife cocktail (photo attached) , we were told that they do not give prosecco as part of her cocktail but reluctantly gave her a shot glass of dry white wine. My Mojito also had very little alcoholic in it with lots of ice. My wife offered the fillet steak, cooked medium to well done. When it arrived there was blood all over her plate and the vegetables were cold as was mine when I got my meal. She sent it back but when it returned, the veg was still cold. My rib eye steak was Fab (photo attached) and I ordered fried potatos and veg with gravy sauce. The fried potatos are frozen chips and the gravy was not very nice but cost €3.50 as did the garlic butter my wife ordered. My sister and brother in law ordered the sharing steak which they had previously ordered the last time they had been there. When it arrived the steak had been divided up already and was on their plates, they were disappointed. We ordered 2 dessert between the 4 of us which were very nice. The whole thing came to over €160 which we would have been very happy to pay if what we got had matched what we ordered. Won't be back.
