For the shortened review, I say this:
Tell your families, tell your friends, tell the neighbours dog. This right here is the place to be, always. The food and the service is unmatched. Period.
Now, onto the longer more in depth review:
Wow, let me start off by saying this restaurant is incredible, a real little gem in the nook of Costa teguise mall, it's sadly surrounded by other more in your face loud, book boom music style establishments, and you don't want to even consider them. But inside, it's quiet, it's tranquil, it's beautiful and homely.
Portobello is home, at least it feels that way, We ordered for starter, garlic prawns, and bruschetta with salmon this is after however, what I'd assume was the owner had a lengthy discussion with us about their favourite wines and what she would suggest, which by the way was absolutely lovely, the food was incredible, the garlic prawns were good, not the best I've had, but still fantastic.
The bruschetta was fresh, alive with flavour, it was seasoned beautifully and my wife loved it.
We then ordered both the penne arrabiata and the spinach and ricotta ravioli, and by the gods did this come to the table, smelling and looking like it was made with the passion you don't see back home.
This right here was authentic home made fresh out of whatever it comes from cooking. The arrabiata blew my head off, it was so spicy, but god I could not put that fork down it was mind-blowing. and the ravioli! My gods the ravioli was unbeatable.
The food, was quite honestly the best I've had in Lanzarote. And we will be going back again tomorrow,
The staff, were so lovely, they were kind, compassionate, conversational and so informative about what we were ordering, what they'd suggest to us based on things we discussed and tried to make our experience as catered and homely as possible.
I'd like to take this chance to personally thank the lovely lady who let us know they didn't have asti, and tried so hard to find my wife an alternative wine, you are a star and we can't wait to come back tomorrow to see you again and thank you for the incredible service
To those who made it here to the end of this review, please don't hesitate to stop in, this is authentic, and heartfelt Italian cuisine, and it is worth, Every. Single. Euro.
Grazie Portobello,...

I'm use to when a waiter brings your wine to your table, they poor a glass out for you to sample then when you give the nod, they then continue to poor out the rest for you and your partner. That did not happen. Secondly, I ordered meatballs with pasta, when I cut into the meatballs and tasted it it was stoned cold, I could not belive I was served cold food. When I called the lady over who I belive is the face of this establishment, she apologised and said that her husband didn't heat them for long enough as they were made in the early morning. She took my plate away and came back a few minutes late with a piping hot plate. The food was vile and hands down , the worst Italian I have ever eaten and me and my wife eat at Italian restaurants often. The lady came over and asked how my meal was and I told her that I didn't like it, she was very dissapointed and asked if I would like to order something else, by this time I had lost my appetite. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish but based on my experience, I would not go back here as I feel the service needs to be improved and the food definitely needs to be better and not just microwave heated up food...
Read moreGreat place to sit and enjoy a variety of Italian dishes. The restaurant itself is tucked into a small alley way, but don't let that distract you. Two things that more then compensate for location or fancyness of the interior are: Food itself and the welcoming owners and helpful staff. Definetely welcome for families or even relaxed dinners for two. Wide choice of fresh produce on the menu, generous portions of tasty dishes and all for very good value while all packacked with plenty of genuine customer care and smiles that will definitely make you comeback more than once to keep exploring that menu. From tasty pizzas to pasta's and a variety of risotto. One item that everyone should try is the baked provolone cheese, just be careful its addictive and as any melted cheese quite heavy so make sure to leave enough space for the well sized mains (top tip - inquiries about half portions were welcome here) Also worthy of a mention are super tasty and staple desserts like panacota or tiramisu, just to name a few we couldn't...
