Banana's Beach Club — Restaurant in Torremolinos

We have been going here as a family sometimes with 10 of us for 6 years and used to get a really friendly welcome and the staff knew us. Therefore I wish I could leave a good review, but after our recent experience, I just can’t. As regulars we were looking forward to a good meal with friendly service, but this visit left us so disappointed that we won’t be back.

To start, there was a terrible smell of old cooking oil throughout the place.

When our food arrived it was ok., but the toast was lukewarm and the chips tasted of stale oil. We ordered a bottle of wine which the waiter spilled some of when opening it and dropped the cap on the floor. He didn’t bring a chiller for the wine.

We couldn’t get anyone’s attention to pay the bill so I went to the bar to pay. The waiter was shockingly rude—acting like we were an inconvenience just for being there. It was uncomfortable and, honestly, felt disrespectful. He told he to get back to my seat and he would bring the bill. I said I’ve been trying for 20 minutes to get that to happen There were 2 guys in front of us and after an hour their food still hadn’t arrived.

We waited over an hour +

We were then served food in which we didn't order! -he served me Eel instead of sea bass, it tasted foul. We then informed the waiter this food isn't what we had ordered, he just apologised.

We then asked for some sort of discount for the above unsatisfactoriness. He said no, and then got argumentative with us. He then got very confrontational towards us, started swearing at us and told us we have to pay full price! - we obviously refused after this reaction, it was so bad.

He then got very close to us, threatening to hit us, we then threaten to call the police, his other waiters get aggressive too... I've never seen or been intimidated like this before. I felt like I was in a scene from EastEnders. We reluctantly paid but it was so bad.

Please AVOID this restaurant...

We live this place. I've been going every time I visit Torremolinos. Great cocktails served to your sunbed or at the bar. Tried the food for the first time this year and we are there the times. Fresh and very very tasty. And good portion sizes (I like to eat and also like value for money) ; prices are good too. Music is cool ; a varied mix of summer tunes, both in Spanish and English. The staff are amazing: friendly, welcoming and great at what they do. Its also a great view of the sea (on area level) and great place to sit and watch people go by.
