First of two reviews (in one review) as breakfast and evening meals have been total opposites for both food and service.
Breakfast in this place is lovely. Coffee excellent., freshly squeezed orange juice lovely. We have had the full English on two occasions, an omelette and also the croissants.
Service on all the occasions we have been is excellent, friendly and nothing is too much, as we found out when I requested a banana one morning. Not on the menu but they still went and got one for me from somewhere.
All in all highly recommended, relaxed side street setting and value for money.
Evening meal….. We decided to eat here tonight and well what a contrast. We ordered pizza, lasagne, prawns, seafood pasta and salmon. The pizza came first and was nice although not expected before the starter. Then came the prawn starter after half a pizza had been consumed. Then the waiting game began. 10 minutes or so later another main course, the seafood pasta appeared, another 10 minutes and the salmon main dish arrived. Some of us started to eat and asked how long the lasagne would be. 5 minutes apparently. Well 5 minutes turned into 15. The other main dishes had been finished. A trip to the serving area revealed it still wasn’t ready! We then requested the bill and the lasagne to takeaway. If it had been my choice the lasagne would not been taken out just removed from the bill. Bill and lasagne turned up together!
So in short. 5 stars for breakfast and the level of service. Highly recommended.
2.5 stars for the evening meal experience. Food was excellent but the service, timing and attention to detail need seriously addressing. We won’t be trying the being meal...
Read moreReally poor, my wife ordered Lasagne, I ordered the grilled sea bass. The older waiter was surly from the start, the younger guy was fine. They came back later and said the sea bass was gone, fine, I get that, I work for a food company supplying many top restaurants in the UK, no problem, I said that’s ok, no problems and ordered the meat balls. My wife’s lasagne came out, which in fairness she enjoyed, they said my meat balls and spaghetti would be out soon. They came out 5 minutes later, when they did come out they were raw and cold in the middle. I pointed this out and they took them away, 10 minutes later they bought my meal out, the meat balls were now shrivelled and burnt, my wife had now finished her meal. I then had to go back into the restaurant to ask for a knife and fork. The pasta looked like it had just been kept under a hot plate, it was stuck to the bottom of the bowl. Because I work in hospitality I understand the pressures catering teams are under, but this was akin to Fawlty Towers, I asked for the bill, which arrived from the grumpy waiter, no apology at any time. Hopefully I won’t end up with food poisoning in the...
Read moreDuring our recent visit at this restaurant, we experienced a mix of feelings.
My partner's choice, the pizza, was delightful. However, my anticipation for the tagliatelle dish turned into a waiting game. Despite the waiter's explanation about the additional 30 minutes due to pizza cooking faster than my pasta dish.
Upon its arrival, the tagliatelle dish revealed an unexpected surprise – frozen shards of ice within the beef. This unexpected inconvenience led to its prompt return.
Regrettably, our experience didn't improve as we progressed through the meal. Requesting the bill resulted in an extended 1 hour of waiting time as our waiter seemed to have forgotten our request. Furthermore, upon receiving the bill, we were surprised to find a double charge for the problematic tagliatelle dish. It appeared that the incident of frozen beef had slipped the...
