We were on holiday and my darling wanted a chemist. Above this we found this restaurant. I never knew even where Armenia was in the world let alone trying there food. My girlfriend is Russian and knew everything it seems about Armenia. We went in and I am so glad i did. I don't know what it was but straight away I thought yep this is a nice place. There was a little boy running around with a toy card reader to the customers and he got the time of his life making a cashing sound every stop. Anyway we were seated. The ordering process was easy for my girlfriend as she had something she knew the name of straight away and said it will be lovely for her and it was by the huge grin from across the table. And in moment hers was gone. My ordering was somewhat taken over by the waiter being concerned of making my food order perfect for me. As normal our drinks came and not long after the food arrived. Mine looked 100% let alone tasted 100%. All the time the waiter was watching me to make sure I guess I was happy. My girl loves her food and ordered what she knew was good. Moments later the waiter arrives to check if what I had ordered was edible. Nice man with a concerned look on his face. He said to my girl in russian he was worried it may be to spicy. It wasn't. Find me another restaurant that has a waiter that cares like him. My salad was very perfect, the chips were perfect and still I am sure I've never tasted chips cooked like these. The meat was scrumptious cooked just like I would like even though I've never had this before. The beer was I was told German and just different but nice tasting. I cleared my plate and got a thumbs up from the waiter across at the bar. And all the time the boy was stop start eating then running about making money with his card machine. This is a genuine view of this restaurant from an unsure guy that was hungry and not sure about entering. I am so so glad I did in the end. Please go find them and have no concerns about entering. There is charcoal burning behind glass where I guess some meat is cooked and maybe this is why mine was so yummy. The toilets are super clean. There are many items on display as decorations that take some working out, but ask the waiter coz he will know. Find me another guy so happy to serve with a proper smile and genuine help in making a safe order. We will 1000% be returning if we are back near again. I am not sure but my meat was I think a mix of beef and pork with just enough spice to make me wish it was even bigger. Salad was so fresh and crispy and different and as I said the chips were the best I've had for sure. Get hungry people and go find in the shopping arcade upstairs to the far left corner and be brave. I had a heads up from my girlfriend and maybe you will not have but I feel sure you will return there like we will. And I hope the boy is there earning his cash for you to love like I did....
Read moreAvoid at all cost! We went for dinner, arrived without reservation however it was only around 40% capacity, so plenty of available tables - given this you’d think we had asked for their first born the reaction we got! Should have taken this as a sign and turned and fled then! However we proceeded to be seated and placed our order - 40mins later one of the plates arrived, we waited and waited but after 10 mins without sign of any of the other meals the person ate the food before it got any colder - another 10mins later the side I had ordered showed up - still missing 3 main meals at this point. The side dish remained unaccompanied for another 10mins until my husband flagged the waitress down to ask about our food, we eventually got this and to say it was vile was an understatement- we had ordered rice and lamb - the lamb was MIA and I could not identify the pieces of white jelly substance mixed in with the rice - I soon realised this was pure gristle! The lamb was a mixture of bone and fat/gristle- Sherlock would have had job finding any actual lamb meat on these plates…. Lesson learned, will not...
Read moreSometimes you discover a rare pearl hidden in a corner. Very tastefully decorated, visibly Armenian! Spotlessly clean. Well organized. Great ambiance and music. Only 15 minutes before closing time I passed to see if I could still some (take away) food from their grill. By experience I knew that Armenian Grill is a different level, no matter where you go. But the reality was there, the carbon was as good as finished. And for my breastfeeding wife I had some special requests. Would I be served? To my biggest surprise the very friendly, welcoming and serious staff accepted my special order. All was immediately freshly prepared to my request. Although it was really late, no one complained. Contrary, the food was deliciously prepared and by just looking at it baking on the grill my appetite kept growing. Once ready, the meat was served with delicious red onion and fresh green herbs. Massive portions! Very decent prices. Could not be better. Therefore, I strongly recommend you to come dine in this pearl hidden...
