Had the menu del dia (€10.95) which is 3 courses plus a soft drink. It was very busy and we got a table near the entrance to the restaurant. Had the salmon tartar and the house salad for starters, then the half roast chicken and the burger for main, mouse (coffee) and just a coffee for third course. Starter was fine, OH said salmon tartar was good, I had the salad - basically lettuce, some grated carrot, sweetcorn and one cherry tomato. Dressing for it was very good. Having seen other diners gave the kebabs for the main and seeing they are served with just a small salad (looked mostly lettuce), decided to go for the half chicken. OH burger was good (served on a plate). Chicken (1/2) served with chips and on a chopping board. This is one of my hates when serving food. I find them very unhygienic, and had I known would have asked for it to be served on a plate instead. Chicken was very moist. Chips were quite dry. Had to go and get our own condiments as service was a bit of a let down. Even though we were right near the door, and the waiters passed our table multiple times, we felt invisible and had to wave them down to place our order and to pay the bill. The mouse was OK, but couldn’t really taste any coffee. It is definitely good value for money, so we’d probably try them again (most places deserve a second chance), but I would request everything is served on a plate. It would also be nice to see a vegetarian/vegan option on the...
Read moreDate of visit: July 2023 menu del Dias. We decided to try an early evening meal, the menu del Dias. one starter Tempura Prawns was fabulous (the other unfortunately mine) Japanese Nuggets were a disappointment but that was probably due to a bad choice? The pork skewer & salad looked amazing wonderful flavour but a little tough in parts but still tasty. We ordered a side order of fries but we got was a small dish of scooped skin on potato’s chips ish? The dessert called Eton Mess lol, was laughable, a pretty looking mush of uncooked meringue almost like unwhipped & sloppy sweetened egg whites browned with a torch garnished with 1 solitary red berry served on a hot plate (probably out of a plate warmer) not nice at all. Staff rushing around like headless chickens difficult to get their attention consequently there was no interaction with staff at all except for ordering and paying the bill. However, back to the food, had I chosen other dishes it would have been good value for the price. I definitely would recommend to family & friends and I will be...
Read moreA party of five adults and one two year old child went to SKP last night.
The food was very good. Three of us had our stakes cooked on the stone at the table. We both enjoyed them. And liked being able to cook the stakes ourselves.
We all enjoyed our food. The waitress who served worked very hard as the place was very busy. The other staff worked hard too.
We all found the seating to be cramped. And we're concerned about the platters with hot stones being passed around near a two year old. But staff were mindful of her. And interacted with her well.
One slight thing was when I was handed my platter the waiter did not tell me how heavy it was which might have been an issue for someone else. One of our pary slightly burnt her finger as her platter was handed to her quickly.
However the food was very good as was the atmosphere. We will all be returning...
