A Culinary Journey to India in the Heart of Torrevieja: Shiva Bar Restaurante When I first heard about Shiva Bar Restaurante in Torrevieja, my expectations were modest. An Indian restaurant in a Spanish coastal town could be decent enough, I thought – perhaps a spot for a quick curry before strolling along the promenade. But the moment I stepped through the door of this small, family-run eatery, I realized I’d been completely mistaken. Shiva isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience, a gateway to India’s vibrant food culture, served with a dose of warmth that makes you feel like part of the family. This isn’t just a meal – it’s a journey, and I’m going to take you along for every single step. First Impressions: A Hidden Gem Tucked slightly off the busiest tourist streets in Torrevieja at Calle San José 24, Shiva exudes the charm of a secret only the initiated know about. The façade is simple, almost unassuming, with a small sign hinting at what lies within. But once you open the door, you’re greeted by an intimate and cozy atmosphere that instantly sets the right mood. The space isn’t large – seating maybe 20-30 guests – but it’s just right. The walls are adorned with subtle nods to Indian culture, without overdoing it with tacky décor. It’s warm, inviting, and unpretentious, like being welcomed into the home of someone who truly loves to cook. The staff, a family running the place with pride, greet you with genuine smiles and a calm confidence that promises good things to come. There’s no forced politeness or rushed hustle here – just authentic hospitality. We were shown to a table near the window, and before we’d even had a chance to flip through the menu, a small basket of crispy papadums arrived with an assortment of chutneys. The crunchy texture and light spiced flavor of the papadums were like a teaser for what was to come – a perfect start that awakened our appetites. When we asked about the naan bread recipe, they just laughed kindly and said it was “lots of love and a little magic” – and honestly, I believe them. This kind of warmth and authenticity can’t be bought; it comes from the heart. The Verdict: A Must-Visit in Torrevieja Shiva Bar Restaurante isn’t just the best Indian restaurant in Torrevieja – it’s one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, period. Here, you get authentic flavors, generous hospitality, and a sense of being part of something real. The prices are also surprisingly reasonable – our entire feast, including drinks, came to under 50 euros for two people. It’s almost laughable how much value you get for your money. If you’re in Torrevieja and craving something to pull you out of the Spanish tapas bubble for a while, run – no, sprint – to Shiva. Bring friends, family, or just yourself, and enjoy a meal that will linger in your memory long after you’ve left the table. This isn’t just food; it’s a celebration of life, served with a smile and an extra helping of naan. Shiva, I’ll be back –...

We stayed in Torrevieja 8 weeks ago and visited this restaurant on the Saturday night. The reviews on google were fantastic, and within minutes, we could see why. The welcome was warm and friendly, putting us at ease, immediately.
And the food was amazing. We have loved Indian cuisine for years, but never tasted anything like this. It was exceptional, and the naan bread was like we’ve never tasted before. It was so good, we returned the following night!
The owners are a lovely, dedicated, friendly couple and deserve all the success in the world.
We are back in Torrevieja and can’t wait to eat here again in the...

It's worth the walk or trying to find parking. The black lentals were amazing. The lamb curry was the right amount of heat and flavor. From the moment I sat down until I left, I was comfortable and happy. The food! They grind and mix their own spices, the food was rich and textured. I will eat here again, I hope you will also try it as its worth it, one of the best meals I have had in years. Ok 4 months later, the passed the make something tasty test. This...
