Had a bad experience. I’m traveling around Spain so I was only in Valencia a night here and there. I walked into the shop, he assured me that, even though I did not have a corkscrew (because traveling) that I would be able to open the bottle. He pulled out the cork about halfway.
I then spent the next three days trying to open this wine bottle, which was not cheap. I was no longer in Valencia or else I would’ve gone back to the shop obviously.
Three days later, after trying so hard to open this bottle to the point where I actually hurt my index finger to where it started profusely bleeding, I was finally back in Valencia and I went back to the shop, hoping that I would get a refund or at least be able to get another bottle since now the cork had snapped in half and had gone deeper into the bottle.
The owner had no sympathy, told me that, even with the cork being stuck deep inside the neck of the bottle, that that was considered to be opened.
I will be calling my credit card company as well to get my refund. I would’ve never bought the wine bottle if he hadn’t assured me that he would help me open it. And then, when I returned, he was cold, rude, and totally unsympathetic and didn’t even replace the bottle. Looking back, it’s obvious know that when he was selling me the bottle he cared more about making a good sale. Very upsetting.
**The owner has replied, and the response is actually not true, but it’s OK because have also given the actual true story to the credit card company and I will actually be getting that refund. The reason the cork broke was because I was trying to pull it out since he had said that I would be able to, and in pulling it out (since he didn’t even pull it out enough and I had to really try to yank it out) it snapped in half. But I’m not going to argue with this man anymore, I will be getting my refund since I have already contacted my credit card company who is on the case and will be contacting him soon. I am now moving on since I will get my money back and never coming back to this...
Read moreHere we are ! After the bad coffee experience in Valencia, this wine shop with Sebastian, the "Che Vins" owner ! An Argentinian who has lived in Valencia for more than 20years now. He knows his stuff. I wanted to try the local wine. After a little talk he started with an outrageous cheap wine from Chozas Carrascal (like 9 euro) and yet sooo good wine ( for the red dry wine lovers .. with the endemic Bobal varietal ... El Nero Dos). He did not try to sell me his most expensive wine. He started nice. Then he mentions el Ocho (a blend of 8 varietal). You can feel the. The mastership of the wine maker (maître de chai) of Chozas Carrascal. Anyway talking about local wines, the terroir and the selection this guy is doing. I can only recommend this shop to get the best local wines, but also in general the Spanish wines! Fantastic experience today. Thank...
Read moreWe go nearly three times a month on a Friday after a long walk. The owner, Sebas is very welcoming in this small but sizable place where they have wine tastings on a Thursday or Saturday morning, but you need to reserve. Cheeses, olives, Spanish Serrano ham can be ordered according to the season and the array of wine is quite exceptional. That would make sense as Sebastian is a wine connoisseur. Always one to share an anecdote with the customer in Spanish but has a limited level of English as well. You will not be disappointed. Best time to go is from 7 til 10.130 when he closes from Tuesday to Saturdays. Che Vins is also open from 12 noon til...
