Nuevo Siglo Restaurante Chino — Restaurant in Valencia

I'm not a religious person, but i think i have found a piece of heaven.

This place is just off the main square of Plaza Mayor, and i was in Madrid for 4 days and i popped in here every day.

An amazing selection and stools of Jamon, Fish,Queso,Chorizo,Tapas,Croquettes, so for a Spanish food lover like myself, i was living the dream.

The best thing i liked about it was the atmosphere, people of all ages and backgrounds eating,drinking,chatting and enjoying themselves. The Spanish have a great relationship with food and it's all inclusive here, unlike some places back home where good food can be exclusive and a rip off ( take note Borough Market).

By an amazing coincidence i ended up at the great Wine counter ( it would be rude not to) eating my selected stash of food and people watching in this great environment,tasting some lovely vino tinto.

Uffff.... Qué desastre. This is by far the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The duck isn't what I've experienced in Chinese restaurants in the UK or US for example - it wasn't proper "crispy" duck (off the bone) it was just weird slices, and the wraps that they give to accompany this dish were totally weird.... All dry and falling apart. Everything tasted really un-fresh and as if cooked from frozen. The prawns in the Gambas dish.... Well, there were a lot of them but they all had the hard exterior shell on them and had not been de-veined (so I presume probably just put into the dish from a bag of frozen prawns). Horrible experiencia en el buffet libre del Nuevo Siglo (Av. Ausiàs March 58, Valencia). Fuimos con la intención de disfrutar libremente del servicio, pero desde el principio nos encontramos con condiciones inesperadas: nos exigían pagar 2 € extra por plato si no consumíamos todo lo que nos servían.

Pedí un pato con salsa especial que no estaba especificado en la carta que tenía cebolla, y lo que me trajeron tenía más cebolla que pato. Claramente no acepto que me intenten dar un plato que no pedí y encima penalizar si no lo termino.

Para colmo, ya nos amenazaron con que la próxima vez “no nos dejarían acceder al buffet libre” si no cumplíamos sus condiciones. Eso rompe completamente la idea de buffet como “come lo que quieras sin limitaciones”.

Por todo esto, no recomiendo este restaurante en modalidad buffet libre: no permiten al cliente disfrutar con tranquilidad, imponen cargos extra y te obligan a aceptar platos que no elegiste creando un...
