Incredible! No other words describe our experience here last night, from the start the service was brilliant, warm friendly and plenty of passion when describing their specials, the setting right on the bay is fantastic with a great view at night with all the lights in the background, the food is quite simply the best tapas I have had anywhere, we had the bread to start with the aioli which was perfect with the wine, followed by Canarian Potatoes which were perfect the delicate salty crust on the outside and still very fluffy inside and the mojo sauce served with them you can tell was homemade with love, my other half had the Calamari which vanished in the blink of an eye perfectly cooked and the most delicate fresh batter on the outside! Then we have together the meatballs in tomato sauce...again incredible I could’ve bathed in that tomato sauce it was unbelievable we had to order another basket of bread we couldn’t let it go to waste! Then the Iberico Chorizo in the red wine usually can be oily but not in this case, and the star of the show Iberico Pork Cheeks...what I would give to have a plate of those right now! Delicately tender they just melted in the mouth and packed with flavour, they were served with a tasty meat sauce...a well suggested special and a perfect finish! Overall the meal cost 45€ including drinks great value it did feel like we were robbing them so we made sure of course there was a generous tip! It’s a must visit for any trip to Playa Blanca! Read moreWe dined at La Katedral twice during our recent holiday in Lanzarote. There is an extensive choice of seafood and meats - you can have separate mains or tapas (or order a larger version of a tapas plate if there's something that you really fancy!) We tried scallops, mussels, octopus and seabass along with many tapas dishes - scampi, garlic prawns, meatballs, chorizo etc etc and not a bad dish among them!! The house wine was under €4 a glass and tasted great - we had the dry rosé. The waiters/waitresses were knowledgeable and friendly and food was served quickly but there was no rushing in terms of how long we stayed to dine. Absolute gem of a restaurant - 2 adults and 3 children (who all ordered adult portions) dined and drank for just over €100 but there is a very reasonably priced children's menu too with the usual fare.
**Almost forgot to mention the stunning sea view as it's right by the...
Read morefood was very average - service was poor and the specials were considerably over priced.
Each person in our group were ordering 4 tapas dishes ranging from $4-$7 each, 2 members were stuck for what to select for the 4th dish .... The staff came over and persuaded them to select from the priceless specials menu and that they did, the staff were of course aware that we were all ordering 4 x tapas dishes each.
The food arrived and it became clear the staff had swindled the 2 members into choosing specials as they cost $25 for 1 plate.
This was not acceptable and was clearly not the theme of the group. the 2 members ended up with far too much food and also an overpriced special.
Staff reply when asked why the situation occured was " You need to pay for this meal otherwise it will come off my wages"
AVOID this place as there are far less expensive and sneaky places in...
