Buckle up, this is a mixed long truthful review. I'll start with the good, the setting is on the seafront. We were recommended to come here by someone at our resort because my partner wanted a T bone steak. He ordered fillet (as there was only this or sirloin on the menu! 🙄) it was cooked to his liking, very rare, tender and served with roasted veg and a choice of potatoes, fries, jacket or you could have Canarian salted with mojo sauces, which we both chose. I asked for a recommendation between suckling pig or baby lamb both dishes a speciality of this restaurant. The waiter said try the lamb. So it arrived, a small leg joint covered in a tasty sauce. BUT it was so tough, I had to saw at it with my steak knife to get through the first centimetre of what looked like freezer burn or roasted til rock hard. Inside it was so tough and left barely any edible meat, this is €19 dish so not a cheap meal. The waiter was called and he agreed it was over done! Brought me the menu again and I chose grilled tuna because it's quick to cook and by then my partner was halfway through his dinner. I told the waiter to say to the chef that I want it rare, flash cooked and asked him if he understood that I wanted it similar to the lovely steak my partner had. 20 mins later he brings me my meal. Consequently my partner had long finished his. The tuna steak, though plentiful was unrecognisable. I believed they'd give me pork steaks instead, as they were covered in cooked onions (with 6 chips in?!!!) and a sauce. I called the waiter over, and asked him 'is this pork, because if its tuna you've over cooked it' I showed him photos of what tuna should look like when cooked properly. I left over half. He apologised.. Again! So disappointed as it was our last meal of our holiday. They didn't offer a reduction in the bill and as it was fast approaching 11pm and they were clearing up around us we paid and left. To be honest I shouldn't have paid full whack, but having seen the reviews I wasn't up for an argument. I recently took down my last review of here a few years ago, when they blatantly overcharged us with extra drinks and I refused to pay for what we hadn't had, and that had ended up in them getting nasty!! He did though say 'come again and they'd try to get it right!!! Not likely! Not a third time! There are so many other lovely restaurants to choose from with equally...
Read moreFood was lovely and very good prices considering the location and other restaurants nearby. However, we were very harshly persuaded into sitting down while trying to look at the menu — literally would not leave us alone and continually pointed out the cheap prices and "large portion sizes" (they were about average).
We were rushed to a table that another family had just stood up from, empty glasses still on the table (but it was very busy so we weren't that bothered by this) and the staff did very quickly reset the table for us. We were sitting outside to soak in the seaside and sunset vibes, but that was quickly ruined by the host shouting across the restaurant trying to haggle passing people. This was very disturbing and was a step too far — he got very annoyed at this one group of 4 elderly people.
As others also mentioned it took so long to get the bill — 20 minutes for us — and even that was disturbed by the host once again stopping us mid-sentence to haggle a group walking past, offering them our table before we'd even paid. On top of this, we watched the host stop mid-conversation with a couple at the back of the outside area to shout down to a large group walking past and in doing so, lodged his pen into this poor ladies food. By the looks of it, she got a quick apology and a pat on the shoulder — not a new meal or discount (to our knowledge at least).
On a separate note, the general service from the staff was underwhelming. There was little to no conversation or chatter with them while ordering, and yes it was busy — but we'd been to much busier places this week that had easily balanced rush-hour and quality customer service. The cherry on top was how disgruntled and annoyed the host seemed because of how much we tipped (just over 4€, which I'd say was generous considering).
In total, the food was gorgeous and it would be a lovely restaurant if it weren't for the money-hungry host and overly-rushed atmosphere. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Playa Blanca unless you enjoy being ignored and side-lined for the greedy. There are so many more restaurants down the shore front that have the same hustle and bustle, beautiful views, but have much friendlier staff and will treat you...
Read moreQuite literally the worst restaurant I have ever experienced. It didn’t start well - ordered calamari which was (a) Frozen and not hand made as advertised, and more worryingly (b) it came with a side of uncooked, unpeeled potato. We asked for bread about half hour in which never came. The white wine I ordered was red wine but heh ho we persevered. After about 90 minutes of waiting for main course, and having asked 3 times, I politely asked the waiter for the bill for what we had and that we wouldn’t be staying any longer for the mains and therefore weren’t paying for them. Some 5 seconds after I said this, 3 full mains arrived. Again, we told him we weren’t waiting at which point the waiter grabbed me by the arm, told me he would call the police. By this point my 11 year old daughter was getting visibly upset but despite this the waiter/manager continued to be aggressive and continued to man handle me.
I genuinely cannot grasp how any of these reviews higher than a 1 star have happened. If you a happy to pay over the odds for frozen food, wrong orders, a 1-2 hour wait for your food and being shouted at and assaulted, this is definitely the one for you. Otherwise try literally anywhere else and you are gonna end up a...
