We were initially greeted and seated by a very polite and friendly member of staff, which gave us hope for a good evening. We ordered starters—garlic prawns and fried goat’s cheese. The prawns were decent, but the goat’s cheese was quite bland and lacked any real flavor.
For our mains, we both ordered steak. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. When the meals arrived, my partner’s steak had a distinctly foul odor, suggesting it may have been off. Mine was fine, but the contrast was very noticeable. We politely raised the issue with the same staff member who seated us, and he brought over an older gentleman to handle the complaint.
We explained the issue again, but instead of listening or offering any kind of resolution, he insisted it was impossible for one steak to be off if the other wasn’t. He dismissed our concerns entirely, offering no replacement, apology, or even basic courtesy. The steak clearly smelled bad, and yet he chose to argue with us rather than acknowledge the problem.
My partner, understandably uncomfortable, said to forget it and asked for the bill. We were happy to pay for the starters and drinks but not the mains, as they hadn’t been eaten. The waiter removed the bad steak from the bill but told me I could still eat mine. However, I had no desire to sit and eat while my partner was being made to feel like a liar, especially in such a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere.
To make matters worse, the chef came out and glared at us from across the room, shaking his head and making us feel incredibly uneasy. The waiter also began raising his voice and became quite aggressive, which was both unnecessary and unprofessional.
Overall, a truly disappointing experience. What began with friendly service quickly turned into an evening of poor food, hostility, and terrible customer service. I would strongly advise others to...
Read moreThis is a hard review to write as the food here in my opinion was exceptional. The last 3 nights of our holiday we planned to eat here, however on the second night the powercut occurred 29/07/24 just as we had finished our dinners I asked for the bill but I was told we could not have it until the power comes back on. I tried to explain we had around a 40 min walk back with 2 children and in the dark this would be difficult. The gent told me that he was able to write a manual bill however this can take time and I was asked to give him 5 or 10 mins to see if the elec came back on.
After 40 mins no electric back on so I approached him again and was met with hostility. He agreed to write me a bill saying I was unreasonable as no other restaurant would do this. He gave me the bill and thrust a card machine in my face, once I had paid he stormed off blowing air out of his cheeks in anger.
On returning to our hotel we saw several other restaurants all writing manual bills with smiles on their faces and doing so in a friendly manner.
It's a real shame as the food here is good and reasonably priced however I and I'm sure others don't like being held somewhere against their will whilst there is a alternative available. A manual bill should have been written immediately and for that reason we didn't and won't be returning to this restaurant again. Be careful eating here seems management have zero respect for the people they...
Read moreI'm afraid my experience here wasn't good. I had excellent food everywhere else in Lanzarote, but I was very disappointed with my visit to Restaurante Grill Volcan de Timanfaya. They have a big and varied menu, so maybe we ordered the wrong things. We had croquetas, grilled sardines, lamb chops and meatballs.
The only ok-ish thing was the croquetas, they were fried before serving so the texture was perfect. However the sardines didn't taste like sardines, even if they were cooked from frozen I don't think they would have tasted like that, so makes me think they were in the fridge for many days; but the worst plate was the meatballs. They smell weird, I have had that kind of meatballs many other times (as I'm Spanish) and those were not right. I believe that again, the meat might have been kept for too long and it wasn't good any more. We had to return them, I was worried we were going to get food posion.
Unfortunately as a Spanish person, I think the restaurant is taking advantage of the tourists, selling them food that is not fresh at all.
I have to say the restaurant is in a really good location, it's right by the sea so it has beautiful views, so that's what my 2 stars go for. Also the wine I was served...
