The food is great. The flavours are wonderful and tho it could be fresher, they're still some of the best croissants you can get around here.
The note of complaint is that I ordered off of ubereats and the restaurant had failed to send us one of the items. Mistakes do happen, so I called the outlet and informed them of this.
My points of complaint following this:
I had to call the outlet multiple times (even after the phone rang) to actually get through to them.
The phone operator asked me to find another item on the menu and place another order, which itself took 5 minutes because it was a specific item and to add a note, and I then had to wait an additional hour to receive the item as it was being sent through regular Uber eats delivery.
I had to ask them to cover the delivery charge, it was not offered to me even tho the error had occurred from the outlet itself. Following this, only 150 had been paid by the outlet, where as the total amount to be paid to the driver was 350, so I had to pay 200 rupees extra on top of the 2k + that I had paid for the original order.
After informing the outlet of this, they blamed the previous Uber driver. Even if it was their fault, that is of little consequence to me, or to any other customer. In the restaurant industry, if you are going to make mistakes, the least you could do is to own up to them without trying to shift the blame onto others.
The food here is great, but the customer service and ease of delivery in this particular instance was very unsatisfactory.
I care about restaurants and business, especially in these trying times, which is why I rated this review 3*s and not 1. Please ask the staff to do better and to respect the hard work that it takes from the kitchen to put up great...
Read moreI like to eat the Great Chief of the Pudding Race (Haggis) for breakfast as I live in Scotland. They usually serve one slice of haggis and one slice of black pudding along with the close cousins of the Great Chief, sausages!
Unfortunately, as we are in Sri Lanka I cannot eat a heart attack on a plate.
The other problem is, coffee! I normally have an Americano, partly because I like the name. I usually have this with cold milk, but in Sri Lanka I have it with hot milk.
In the UK, this will contain one or two shots of coffee, and about a litre of hot water.
An Americano is sometimes confused with a Flat White. However the Pumpkin Cafe franchise on British Rail, tell me the difference is that a Flat White is made with milk and not water, and is correspondingly more expensive.
Yet when I order an Americano at Costa Coffee (a very large chain) the order-taker shouts out 'Flat White' to the coffee-maker.
I do not like Lattes!
However I remember fondly the 'cafe au laits' we used to have as we raised across France in our Morris Oxford (big brother of the Morris Minor) on family camping holidays. (My father had built a tray underneath the bonnet where we kept tins of London Grill, so we would not starve in France).
I could go on. This cafe brought back happy memories of "Allo Allo".
On Burn's night there are many toasts, including a toast to...
Read moreAbsolutely loved our experience at Baguette French Bakery & Cafe! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with the warmest smiles and exceptional service that made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and has that charming French bakery vibe that instantly transports you to a Parisian café.
We tried a little bit of everything, and it was all simply outstanding. The tea and coffee were perfectly brewed, rich in flavor and served just right. The baguettes had the perfect crust—golden, crisp, and beautifully airy inside. The croissants were buttery, flaky, and utterly delightful—exactly how a true French croissant should be. For a refreshing twist, we indulged in their mango and pineapple popsicles, which were light, fruity, and a perfect treat for a warm day.
The service really set this place apart—friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. Every detail, from the presentation of the pastries to the quick, thoughtful service, was spot on. This is the kind of place you want to return to, whether for a quiet coffee break, a delicious pastry run, or a fun family outing. Highly recommend Baguette French Bakery & Cafe to anyone looking for authentic French flavors and a wonderful café experience. We can’t wait...
