I would like to share my recent experience at your hotel, which unfortunately did not meet the expected hospitality standards. Since I'm here for my vacation My intention was to arrange a surprise cake for my sister to celebrate her significant achievement in her businesses. Since we were accompanying her to the hotel, I was unable to purchase a cake beforehand. When I initially approached your front desk (I am unsure if she was a receptionist or assistant), I requested assistance in arranging this. However, her approach was disappointing and unacceptable for the hospitality industry. Firstly, she informed us that the buffet starts at 7 PM and that we would not have access to the restaurant before then. When my sister asked if we could wait in the pool area, we were also denied access. As a result, we decided to leave temporarily and visit Marina Mall. Upon returning, I once again asked the same staff about arranging a cake with a congratulatory message. This time, she told me that if I bought a cake from Marina Mall, they could help with the wording.i would answer her at the same time for that, since it was a big day for us I don't wanted to spoil our moment. As someone who working as a Training Coordinator and Internal Auditor in the hospitality industry abroad, I strongly recommend further training for your team, especially in guest handling and anticipating guest needs. Simple gestures, like assisting with a cake arrangement, make a big difference in creating memorable experiences. Fortunately, I later approached the restaurant staff, for the same request and who offered to provide a cake for LKR 2,500. The cost was not an issue for me, and while I was expecting a more generous portion for the price, we were offered by slice of cake. However I truly appreciate their effort. Most importantly, my sister was pleasantly surprised, which salvaged the occasion. However, I urge the management to focus on better staff training and food quality

If you want to stay at the hostel and not leave, it’s a great place thanks to the gym, the shopping centre, the rooftop infinity pool and bar. The hotel is right across from the beach, but it is not possible to swim as there is a railway instead of a beach. The hotel is located on a very (very) busy main road with no footpath, making the discovery by foot very challenging. With your stay you have the possibility to book a city tour organised by the hotel from 2.30pm to 5.30pm in a mini van with AC and a guide. You’ll go to 5 main landmarks of Colombo and learn about the country and culture. You can also enjoy the hotel private beach located 10min away. A free shuttle gets you there every hour or so. At the time of our stay, the access to our balcony was impossible and we had a no see through film on the window, as the room was facing a new building under construction. The room had a very comfy bed and pillows, clean and efficient AC. The TV did not have Netflix but we were too busy to really notice it. You could see it on level 10 from the infinity pool, with tradies banging on metal from 5am to 8pm. The view from the top level is nice only on the side facing the lotus tower, the other side offering a poor view. The hotel has a great gym with professional equipment, free towels and water bottles, under the watch of a coach. There are 2 steam room with lockers and great showers. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The restaurant on level 2 offers the best buffet we could ever ask for, from breakfast to dinner with exceptional tastes and variety of food.

This review is based on the worst experience I've faced from a Hotel for their reservation system and confirmation. These guys have something worse than a corrupt third world government system in place. We made a booking reservation and paid through their hotel's payment link but the card was not charged or even pre authed. We followed up to their "reservations" team multiple times but they responded only a day before checkin and sent a new link for payment. However this link never worked and the response was below sub par. The person manning the reservations email is woefully inept and was simply unable to send a working link - He had copied several ids to the email chain but they all seem to be asleep till now with no one bothering to even try and help. Finally we suggested they share their bank details so that we can make the payment and then deposited the amount and sent them the receipt. However when we actually reached their desk for checkin we were treated like thieves trying to cheat our way to a room. They are totally uncoordinated and made senior citizens stand for a longtime while they "verify" our payment. Why on earth do you need a "reservations" team and a separate "front office" team? And even if you do why the hell does the guest need to know about this? Every other hotel goes out of their way to ensure the guests are made to feel welcome... Not here though. The duty manager Upendra(front office) was so arrogant as to imply we can simply send a random payment screenshot and they have to verify the receipt with their "accounts" department. And this is after repeated pleas from us that we have made the complete payment to their bank(not even a pending card transaction). This is not how you treat guests at a hotel. We were humiliated and put through totally unnecessary stress AFTER MAKING THE FULL PAYMENT.

If you value your pride as a human being, do not stay here. Whatever fancy stuff they offer as a "4 star" hotel is pointless when you humiliate guests at checkin itself. We stayed at 10 different hotels in our trip in Sri Lanka and this is by far the worst we've experienced - Not just here but anywhere...

Indulgent Oasis: A Personalized Retreat at Marino Beach Colombo Hotel

Embark on a journey of pure indulgence and discovery at Marino Beach Colombo Hotel, where every moment is a treasure waiting to be uncovered. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was captivated by the hotel's elegance and charm. Nestled in the heart of Colombo, I found myself conveniently close to all the city's attractions, making exploration effortless.

Entering my room for the first time was a moment of sheer delight. The space exuded modern luxury, with plush furnishings and contemporary amenities that promised a truly indulgent stay. The expansive room offered a sense of grandeur, and the complimentary minibar, refilled daily, was a thoughtful touch that added to the convenience and comfort of my stay.

One highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the rooftop infinity pool, where I spent blissful hours soaking in the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The garden terrace and jacuzzi provided additional moments of relaxation, while the pool bar added a touch of indulgence to my leisurely afternoons.

The hotel's impeccable service further enhanced my stay, from seamless check-in and check-out experiences to interactions with the incredibly hospitable staff. I was particularly impressed by the honesty and generosity of the staff at the currency exchange, who went above and beyond to rectify a mistake I had made in my initial count.

Exploring the city was made all the more enjoyable by the hotel's convenient location. The complimentary Colombo city tour offered by the hotel was a fantastic way to immerse myself in the local culture, guided by a knowledgeable and hospitable guide. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to attractions such as Casino Marina and the complimentary shuttle service to Marino Beach Lounge allowed me to effortlessly experience the vibrant energy of Colombo.

In every aspect, Marino Beach Colombo Hotel exceeded my expectations, leaving me with cherished memories of a truly unforgettable stay. From the luxurious accommodations to the unparalleled service, every moment was a testament to the hotel's commitment...

We recently visited this venue to perform at a wedding, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst experiences we’ve had in our musical journey. Upon our arrival, the staff repeatedly directed us back and forth, ultimately refusing to let us use the main entrance.

As a professional band, we regularly perform at many star-class hotels in Colombo and across the country. None of them restrict our access in this manner. We always follow hotel protocols by unloading our sound and heavy equipment through the designated service entrances, usually located at the back of the hotel, in full compliance with their standards and procedures.

At this venue, however, things were unnecessarily complicated. We first parked in the basement and attempted to enter through the basement entrance, but the security informed us that the scanner there was too small for our equipment. They instructed us to use the main entrance instead. We complied without objection, but upon reaching the main entrance, another group of staff redirected us to the main scanner. There, the security team refused to allow us entry, insisting we should have used the back entrance. One even claimed that this policy had been enforced since the Easter attacks, yet we have performed at this same venue multiple times after that event, always entering through the main entrance without issue.

This entire incident clearly reflects poor internal communication and inconsistency among the staff. Worse, it came across as discriminatory treatment. Security personnel are, in many ways, the first point of contact and should act as unofficial receptionists, representing the hotel with courtesy and fairness. Instead, we were left embarrassed in front of wedding guests, which we believe has negatively impacted our band’s reputation.

Such experiences are not only frustrating but also damaging for professionals like us who work hard to maintain high standards. We sincerely hope the management addresses these issues so that future performers and guests are treated with the respect and consistency...
