The Avenue — Restaurant in Colombo

We chose the Avenue as our new years eve restaurant this year and was really dismally dissipointed. The ambience was morbit, from the moment we walked in, the room we sat in was filled with moscitoes, there are remedies for this in Sri Lanka, the waiters just came in to take our dinner order and ignored us the rest of the night. We waited more that 40mins for our food and they did not even offer a nibble during that wait. We were so hungry by the time the food came, that we ate the unappetizing food. My son and I ordered lamb chops from the festive menu and this was cold when it arrived at our table, the veggies was rock hard(not even blanched) My husband ordered grilled chicken, it was so over grilled and hard, he had a real struggle to get through it!. My daughter ordered a burger and fries, the fries had to be ordered separately. The burger was ok, but the fries were also very hard, like they were refried multiple times. This establishment professes that it's a fine dining experience, but it was horrible from the beginning to end. Nobody came to ask us if we enjoying our meal( I feel they know that they were serving us totally substandard food) I would not recommend this place even if the food is a fraction of the price. I have visited here previously during the night time with few friends and we did have a pleasant experience. But I visited here with my girlfriend 3 weeks ago. But little did I know how bad my experience was going to be. Firstly it was during lunch time and their air conditioning wasn’t working at all. It was so warm. We ordered the grilled octopus as a sharing platter as an appetizer where it said serves 2, then they brought us a dish with 3 pieces of tiny octopus with some salad leaves garnished. And then we ordered a fish and chips which was like fish fingers rather which my girlfriend was annoyed at me and I happened to take her for lunch to talk and patch up but at this point she was furious. I happened to order which in the menu it said pork chops but I just got 1 pork chop and I just ate it because my girlfriend was annoyed and wanted to leave soon and when I told the manager he asked me if he can bring me a fresh one and I had to decline as my furious girlfriend was adamant to leave and my girlfriend at the time is now my ex girlfriend as our experience here made our situation worse. But I must also mention the nice manager gave us a 10% discount, although I appreciate the gesture it was more like rubbing salt on the...

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this restaurant — hands down the best meal I’ve had so far during my time in Sri Lanka. I ordered the steak, and it was cooked to perfection: tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients and take pride in their food.

I was dining with three other people, and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Each dish was prepared with great care, and the portion sizes were generous. The consistency in quality across the different items we ordered really stood out.

The atmosphere of the place was warm and welcoming. It’s a very clean, well-maintained establishment with a stylish yet comfortable interior. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in.
