Catamaran Restaurant — Restaurant in Weligama

Of all the places to have a drink or eat I would personally choose elsewhere. Sat on sunbed and waited 15 mins for service. It was. It busy. Maybe 8 people. Went to the bar. 2 of the staff were too busy chatting than be bothered to serve me. Finally they served me after about 5 mins. Ordered a drink and sat back on sun lounger. Then one of the staff said it would be 1000lkr for the lounger! At 4pm! I’d kind of understand if it was in the morning and I was there all day. So i didn’t order another drink amd I certainly wouldn’t eat there as I’d rather give another bar and restaurant my money. Not friendly at all. No atmosphere. Worst service I’ve had in Sri Lanka in 3 weeks and I love this country. Wouldn't recommend. Went here on 2 occasions, first time their menus said different prices and the obviously took the higher one. We questioned it, no apology or attempt to rectify just that's the price... We came back because there aren't many options for umbrella and food on the beach. Had to ask 4 times to get water I had ordered, eventually I got up to get it myself. They charge 1000r for 1 sunbed, no mention of for how long and they kicked us off at 4 saying it's only for 2 hours. They obviously wanted to start tidying away - which is fine but just say that? The worst part is you're fixed to pay a 10% service...

A few issues with this place. 1 - Overcharged on some items. The prices were lower on the menu they gave us than the menu they had at the till. No apology and forced to pay the higher price. 2 - Paid 1000 rupees for sunbeds, to be told a couple of hours later our time was up and we needed to move. They had not mentioned a time limit, and we were about to order some beers. 3 - Poor service. Had to ask multiple times for water and in the end my partner had to go up to the bar.
