It is difficult to even know where to start. In basic terms, Bord27 is a Gothenburg MUST. Going here on my first night of several in Gothenburg, I had high expectations; these expectations were exceeded! If you are visiting, seek this restaurant out to ensure that you do not leave this wonderful city without experiencing its best food, people, and atmosphere. If you are fortunate enough to reside in Gothenburg, you will become a regular here after experiencing the above. I was welcomed with warmth from both the incredible personnel and the other diners around me. This is a small restaurant with a cozy and comfortable bar and around 10 tables. It feels warm and inviting, not at all cramped. Melika, my server, went out of her way to ensure my comfort, explain the menu, and answer any questions I had. I ended up ordering the potato croquettes, pictured below, which were wonderfully crispy and filled and topped with fresh herbs and cheese. Everything a perfect croquette should be and more. The roasted cod, also below, was succulent, fresh, and flaky, with a mix of potato puree and local fresh vegetables. I ordered a light and crisp Swedish cider to drink, and also took a crème brûlée for dessert, another house specialty. This meal and entire experience was so extraordinary that I returned on my last day in Gothenburg with a dear friend who lives here to invite her for a meal, because I could not allow her to go another day as a local without experiencing such greatness. We went for Sunday lunch and shared their vegetable pakora (they were so crispy and delicious that we devoured them before I remembered to snap a photo!), my friend ordered the cod (Frederick explained how in March it is the best time of year to enjoy such fresh fish, and he certainly advised well on this and on all the items on the menu) and I ordered the open-faced lasagna (photo below), delectable layers of noodles, local vegetables, and goat cheese all beautifully arranged. Bord27 is SPECIAL. It maintains a down-to-earth, friendly, neighbourhood-institution vibe while sparing no detail in the level of finesse in its food and service. There was a family sititng at the table next to me who had a toddler with them who were perfectly at home; they explained that they previously resided near the restaurant and still return frequently to dine there even though they now live further away. They as well as the restaurant workers all were appreciative of my efforts to speak Swedish, but were more than gracious about my being foreign and speaking in English with me. I cannot wait for my next trip to Gothenburg to...
Read moreUpdate Review on chicken club sandwich: A complette disaster. Bread burned, tasted like carbon in your mouth. Chicken 30% skin 30% fat and 40% meat. I was never server so much chicken fat in a restaurant. Also skin of the chicken was overburned (not crispy) and the meet to tender which gave the impression to be undercooked. Sandwich could use a side veggie on the side if not is not really a meal but an overpriced fika. Water bottles look really dirty inside. Not sure why the place has gotten so bad, didn’t have this impression the past times I visited. Krokettes wayyyy to salty and believe me I am a person who eats a lot of salt so if I think is salty I believe it might feel like poison for others. PS: I don’t give anymore feedback in person to Swedish restaurants as they take it like a confrontation. ”When in Rome act like the Romans”.
Review 3 years ago: This restaurant is very good, both the service and the food. I felt at home as they took care of us since we arrived. They made sure we had enough water and that we liked the food. We had a Steak sandwich that so tasty and well thought. Probably the best place I have been in Gothenburg so far....
Read moreI have experienced a terrible attitude by the staff members. Man, elder age, grey hare, beard: was rude, demanded a reservation despite lots of places are empty. When we just entered nobody said: “hello”/“welcome”/“how can I help you”? Just: “reservation??”, we said we do not have it and the answer was just: “NO” and he turn to us with his back.. I tried to figure out what does that mean and why are clients treated like that, we were told that we can be allowed to have place but at the bar. After my question of there are any other iptions as we want to order a lot and at the bar there is just tiny place, the man literally rubbed my shoulder with his fist and said: “I SAID NO”. So I’d like to hear back from the restaurant owners- what the hell does that mean??? Why your staff members allow themselves such attitude to clients?? Of there is no place, teach your staff to explain it POLITELY! I am deeply offended by this disgraceful behaviour and I do not care if dishes are good or not- I am never coming to a place when I can be...
