Il Gambero — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

I was slightly anxious about this place as the previous reviews were so good that I was bound to be disappointed, right?

How wrong I was!

I am still salivating thinking about it, the morning after. The base was lush - not too thick and perfectly cooked. Seasoned really well too - topped with fresh basil.

However, there was some confusion of my wanting a side salad, with the server pointing at pots of "pizza salad". I now understand that this is a cultural oddity in Sweden where some kind of pickled cabbage is expected with pizzas....

Decent Neapolitan-style pizza in the heart of Gothenburg. The dough is a bit thicker which has both pros and cons.

Biggest pro is that the pizza doesn't fall apart as soon as you take a slice, but at the same time it's not that crispy and airy on the crusts, which is one of the things I enjoy the most with Neopolitan pizzas.

Anyway, all in all it's good...

Amazing pizza’s. I had the Tartufo & Salame and it was one of the, if not the, best pizza’s I ever had. Very cheesy and tasteful. Next to that, the staff (I guess owners) were very friendly and engaging.
