A spontaneous visit this summer turned into one of those experiences where, despite being low on energy and time, I felt compelled to share a review due to the sheer disappointment. Arriving late, the outdoor seating was bustling, a promising sign, yet we managed to find a spot. Assuming its popularity was a testament to its quality, we inquired about the food. The waitress informed us the kitchen was about to close but could still whip up some starters. When asked if these would be sufficient, she confidently assured us they would be.

As an 87 kg man with a hearty appetite, what I received after a 15-minute wait was both baffling and underwhelming. I've eaten in some questionable places—rat burgers in '90s Prague, subpar spaghetti in Florida, and generic supermarket fare—but this was a new low. We were presented with what appeared to be a microwaved hard taco shell topped with a substance resembling canned tuna, crowned with a slice of carambola. As the accompanying photo showed, it was a mere 10 cm in diameter, weighed around 100 grams, and—to add insult to injury—it was priced at an outrageous 195 SEK (17€). Internally, I was crestfallen. Observing others and the glowing online reviews, including local newspapers, I wondered if my experience was an anomaly or if this was reflective of a new, perplexing trend in Gothenburg where we gladly pay 20€ for a simple hamburger, drink flat beer from straight ikea glasses, vote for "multicultural".

Disheartened and feeling exploited by the experience, I found solace around the corner with a 70 SEK (6€) pizza that brought the night to a more comforting close. Safe to say, I won't be revisiting Mestiza—it was a...

What a nice surprise! We came in by chance on a Friday afternoon and we were simply charmed by the staff, the excellent choice of wine and especially the food. Go to taste excellent food on beautiful plates made first class by top quality ingredients and exquisite cooking. You get what you pay for, and although the prices may appear high on the menu, they are excellent value once you have finished your meal. We left very happy and have fond memories the day after, as I write this review. We will come again when I am next in Goteborg as a treat to...

The food is good and the staff are friendly. However by looking at the menu online one would think that everything on the menu is main course, but in reality each dish is super tiny…. The tortellini dish has five tortellini in total, anyways, maybe it would be better if the restaurant can put on the website that the dish on their menu is actually tapas portion, and one probably needs 3...

Great experience, unique tasty food, great atmosphere, helpfull and friendly staff, Ash Tanur (israely bread) with chesnut hummus is a must, but you can hardly resist to try all the meals from the menu...hedonism at a glance, highly recommended P.S. the toilet is like art gallery

The food quality and service is exceptional at Mestiza. It's on the higher end with the pricing, so this isn't a place for you for a quick bite in a pocket friendly scenario. The service is also very friendly. Overall a very nice restaurant with great food.
