Mexikanska Monarkin — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

My recent experience at Mexikanska Monarkin was nothing short of a nightmare. I had made a reservation well in advance, but the host failed to properly check my name and neglected to inform us that we were on a waiting list. The message notifying us of this was in Swedish, leaving us completely unaware of the situation.

Despite being seated at a table for 25min, ordering drinks, and going through the menu with the waitress, the original reservation showed up late. Instead of handling the situation professionally, we were unceremoniously kicked off the table without any respect, even though we were with two young children.

The lack of communication and organization displayed by the staff at Mexikanska Monarkin is absolutely unacceptable. As customers, we deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when we have made the effort to make a reservation and support the business. The way we were treated was not only unprofessional but also incredibly disrespectful.

I strongly advise against dining at Mexikanska Monarkin based on my experience. The management needs to take this review seriously and address the issues at hand. Customers should not be subjected to such dismissive and callous treatment. It is clear that the staff at Mexikanska Monarkin have no regard for customer satisfaction or basic customer service skills.

Love this place so damn much!!!!!! I appreciate that a lot of the menu ingredients are completely handmade from scratch like the Tortillas, Totopos, salsa sauces, guacamole etc etc🤤🤤

The drinks are just as amazing, I personally don’t drink alcohol myself so I really enjoy the lemonade!! My partner adored the frozen of the week and our friends enjoyed their cocktail and tequila selection 🤗

The atmosphere is so fun and casual!!✨ the music’s just makes you feel so upbeat and positive along with their taco selection hehe Taco Tuesday also means 55kr for all tacos which I highly recommend going for 😍😍 Btw the toilets are also handmade in Mexico which was such a nice touch!! I love the Mexicanhome-feel tribute the place gives, like it’s at your Abuelita’s own home 🥹

I’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu, highly recommend the taco plate as you get everything from the appetizers selection and 3 tacos in a really great price 🤤 The staff are so helpful and very happy to help - their recommendations are really appreciated!!

My partner adored the Carne Asada, Pescado and Al Pastor tacos!! My favourite will always be the Avocado tacos haha even though I’m not a vegetarian. The starters we had in our taco plate was so filling and mucho delicioso 😍😍 also so nice to finish off with some yummy dessert, we tried both the churros and flan- lovely finishing...

Satisfying vegetarian options that ensure inclusivity in their flavorful taco selection. Nachos that could easily take the crown for the best in town. Authentic and flavorful guacamole complementing the dishes well. Margaritas that are nothing short of fantastic, mixed to perfection. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with interior decorations that pay homage to Frida Kahlo's artistry and beloved Mexican motifs, creating an immersive experience. Amazing churros.

Cons: The pricing per portion is steep, which seems misaligned with market expectations. A reassessment towards more reasonable rates could enhance value for money. The less than ideal location, tucked away on a nondescript backstreet devoid of any scenic views, reinforces the need for price adjustments to match the setting.

Overall, the main detraction is the pricing, which is the driving factor behind the lower rating. If the cost were more in line with the standard, this spot would likely soar...
