As my first visit to Port Arthur, it gave a warm first impression. The staff treated us in a way that was like coming to a friend's home. They also directed us to the fact that there was table service and places to order at the bar. The places were clearly separated from each other which we appreciated. Just our small group chose to sit to order at the bar, as we may take a long time to decide, and also wouldn't stay very long. But long enough for a delicious meal.

To the meals.

The meals we ordered were theirs.

Garlic bread that was topped with cheese, the bread had a perfect crunch to compensate with the perfect thickness. it was also served with an incredibly good tzatziki.

Then on to a prime rib burger that came with a nice soft brioche bread and that the meat was just thick and not too chewy. Added to that were the crispy generous french fries that were just the right amount of crispiness with a fun reminder of churros in their look.

We also ordered their own Fish n Chips, which had a tender fish, with a crispy, reasonably thick exterior. Which was served with a delicious aioli according to my friend while he scraped clean the dip bowl.

To my order which turned out to be a fantastic creamy, rich mushroom risotto. With mushrooms, wild mushrooms, oyster slivers that were generously topped with grated parmesan.

Our portions were generous but not overdone. So it was possible to eat without feeling that you need to roll out, but still be satisfied.

The location of the PUB/Restaurant is right on the other side of the river in a not too busy area. Within walking distance from lookout point, cozy little streets, boulevard, Swedish sightseeings. A nice quiet but lively area with very nice history around the harbor areas around.

Easy to get there by bus, but even more pleasant to take the local small ferries that glide between the nice different places in central Gothenburg.

Very worth a visit for the beer interested or food crazy person. But also a good one for family and small group of friends.

I will gladly return to curiously explore the beer, the food on offer.

And should also add that sometimes live gigs have the hook. So keep an eye on their web pages, or stop by and read the signs outside.

Thank you for this time Port Arthur for a very pleasant experience with you

Kind...

If you're looking for the ideal spot to unwind after a long day in Gothenburg, Port Arthur is the place to be. As an American visiting Sweden, I was on the lookout for a pub that would give me a taste of local culture while still offering the warm and welcoming vibe I cherish back home. Port Arthur hit all the right notes!

Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the inviting atmosphere. The outdoor area is simply fantastic! With all of the comfortable seating it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a drink, especially on a warm evening. I loved being able to kick back outside, surrounded by friends and good vibes.

Now, let’s talk about the beer selection. Port Arthur boasts an impressive array of both local and international craft beers. Whether you're a fan of hoppy IPAs or prefer something dark and rich, there’s something for everyone. I tried a couple of their local brews, and they were outstanding—each one showcased the unique flavors that Swedish craft brewers are known for. The staff were more than happy to offer recommendations, which made it even easier to find something I’d love.

Speaking of the staff, they were genuinely friendly and attentive. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. They took the time to chat, share stories about the beers, and made sure my experience was enjoyable. It’s clear that they take pride in their service, which really enhances the overall experience.

Port Arthur is a fantastic pub that ticks all the boxes for a great post-work hangout. With a stellar beer selection, friendly service, and a relaxing outdoor area, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. I’ll definitely be making Port Arthur a regular stop during my time...

Port Arthur is a captivating little pub nestled in the heart of Göteborg, offering a unique blend of charm and comfort that makes it stand out from the typical bar scene. Its historical namesake adds a touch of intrigue and character, making every visit memorable.

The interior of Port Arthur exudes a rustic, almost nautical charm, with wood-paneled walls and vintage maritime decor. It's cozy and inviting, creating an ideal atmosphere for unwinding after a long day or catching up with friends over a drink.

The drink selection is quite impressive, featuring a variety of craft beers, classic cocktails, and a selection of whiskies that would satisfy any enthusiast. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and the central location of the pub.

What truly makes Port Arthur a great destination is its warm and welcoming staff. They are attentive and friendly, always ready to share a story or recommend a drink based on your preferences.

While the food menu is limited to smaller bar snacks, what is offered is tasty and pairs well with the drinks. The focus here is definitely more on the beverages and the ambiance.

A slight downside might be the size of the pub; it's on the smaller side, which means it can feel a bit cramped during peak hours. However, this also adds to the cozy, intimate vibe that many patrons appreciate.

Overall, Port Arthur is a wonderful spot in Göteborg for anyone looking to enjoy a good drink in a comfortable and intriguing setting. It's a place that combines history with modern hospitality, making it well worth a visit. Highly recommended for a relaxed...

Tucked away in the heart of Gothenburg, this charming pub offers a fascinating blend of history, character, and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. Once a brothel many years ago, the building has retained its old-world charm, with intricate wooden beams and antique touches that whisper of its colorful past. It’s a place where history comes alive, but in a way that feels warm, inviting, and completely modern. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with a great recommendation from their wide selection of local beers and spirits. Whether you're enjoying a casual pint with friends or savoring one of their hearty dishes, there's a cozy sense of tradition that makes it clear this is more than just a pub—it’s a piece of Gothenburg’s rich history. The mix of historical ambiance and vibrant, contemporary energy makes this pub a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the city in all its layers. What makes it truly special is the sense of community that surrounds it. Locals and visitors alike gather here, sharing stories and laughter, as the echoes of the past blend seamlessly with the present. It's a place where you can drink in the atmosphere, appreciate the heritage, and make new memories of your own. Highly recommended for those who appreciate a pub with a unique story to tell!
