Restaurang Solrosen — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

In Gothenburg, I found it difficult to find a restaurant fully vegetarian. I found this restaurant ''Solrosen'' in an app, and decided to give it a go. Oh Boy!!! I was soooo happy that I found this gem of a place. The two people who took my orders and payment, were very sweet and welcoming. Always with a smile. Their staff always checked that the salad bar was replenished and kept the salad bar clean. The whole restaurant was very clean and had a quaint touch. In Sweden food is more expensive, so I was so surprised, this restaurant's food were so reasonable. You pick a main dish, salad and coffee/tea unlimited. An excellent deal. The salad bar had a good amount of options plus they kept bread and crispbread also. For the tea/coffee, they had kept milk, sugar, brown sugar and even honey. Two days I ate here, apart from the salad and the lasagna, they changed the other three main dishes. So you will not get bored, even if you often eat as they serve different things on different days I guess.

Certain things to remember:

1. They have one main dish for vegans also
2. Fully self-service. So you order, pay, take your own food and cutleries. After eating, you leave your plates and tray at a place which has shelves. A bit like in Ikea.
3. You can have takeaway from this restaurant, but I prefer to dine in as I refill my salad and tea/coffee many times. If takeaway, you can only pack your salad how much can fit in a plastic box they give you. Also no takeaway for your coffee/tea.

I will highly recommend Solrosen. The food tasted homely...

I can’t recommend this “Gem” enough. It’s like eating grandma’s homemade food—so much love in every dish. Definitely not a fancy restaurant, but appearances can be deceiving. I usually eat animal-based food, but for vegetarian (or vegan alternatives) to taste this good—it’s amazing! Well-seasoned and boldly creative. The atmosphere feels genuine, like being transported back to the glorious 70s. They have a carefully curated selection of draft beers. Support this place so it can keep going. The landlord wants to drastically raise their rent. The people running the restaurant are doing it almost on a voluntary basis.

Great vegetarian and vegan food with alcohol rights. Gothenburgs most well know and first vegetarian restaurant in the centre of the old place Haga in Central gbg. . Ecologic homemade food and salad buffet.Their lasange and mashed potatoes are to die for!! Generous portions and second helpings if required good value for ir money!
