Restaurang VED — Restaurant in Lund Municipality

I had an interesting experience at Ved recently. This was my second visit—the first was back in 2023, when the restaurant was quieter and the service matched the quality of the food, which was excellent.

Fast forward to 2025, I visited again during what I later learned was graduation week. The restaurant was extremely busy, and while the pizza was still fantastic, the service left a lot to be desired.

Here’s what went wrong:

Our pizzas took over an hour to arrive. No one came to update us or apologise for the delay, which is usually standard practice in most restaurants. When I politely asked our waiter, “Do you know how long our food will be?”, he simply smiled smugly, said “No,” and walked away without another word. It felt dismissive and rude. I later asked another waitress, who at least acknowledged the delay and explained that the kitchen was very busy—something I would have appreciated hearing earlier.

It’s understandable that restaurants get busy, especially during special occasions, but communication and basic courtesy should never be compromised. I hope Ved considers improving staff training and support during peak times, because the food really is worth coming back for—if the service can match it.

Been here many times due to convenience. We had planned to try the Osteria Cucco but it was closed so we spontaneously went to VED instead. Inside is super dark which is a bit much, feels like going into a cave. It's probably done to hide the absence of windows. The food is consistently good quality, but not very inventive, not an experience to remember, and quite pricey. Service on this Monday was truly substandard for a place with these ambitions. When the food arrived, one plate lacked one important ingredient, the sauce. When this was pointed out to the waiter, we were told they were out of sauce unfortunately. No excuse, not offering any compensation, just stating this pathetic fact that they accept orders which they can't deliver. We had to ask for refill of water, the tea came without the milk we ordered, one waiter got confused over who was pregnant and not, just overall poor performance... The location and mostly easy-going menu attracts more guests than the place probably deserve.

VED has been of my favorite restaurants to go to in Lund, it always has a nice atmosphere and the food is good. However, the last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. I went with 2 other people, all of us in our 20s. We wanted to order drinks and I realized I forgot my ID so I asked if I can show a picture of my passport on my phone. The waitress said no, okay, fair enough, so I ordered a coke and the rest of the group ordered drinks. Later in the evening, the waitress passed by as I was taking a sip of one of my friend’s drink and proceeded to quite literally scold me. I felt like a teenager trying to get drinks illegally, not like an adult at a restaurant being talked to by a waitress. When we were finished with our food, the waitress brought us the check without me asking, even though I still had half of my coke left and my reservation was supposed to be finished in half an hour.
